I've heard he was born in 1342, or 1324...

Egyptian chronology is pretty stable until you get into the 18th Dynasty. Which is the dynasty of King Tutankhamun. The reason being is the different calendars Ancient Egypt used. Traditionally the 18th Dynasty has three different dates based upon what calendar you are using. They are called the High, Medium and Low. There is a whole lot more involved that i just don't have my notes with me to help. Sorry.

However, you can actually have 3 different dates for the birth of Tutankhamun and be correct with all three. Forty years ago i believe it was the Low chronology that was favored. Since then it has change as our knowledge of Ancient Egyptian time keeping has grown. I may be wrong (no notes dang!) but i believe most scholars now favor the Medium chronology.
