If they women of Egypt were anything like the women of other past cultares, i doubt they even knew how to throw a punch.

Hi NeferetIsis, It isn't a dumb question it has been asked before. Egyptian culture gave women unheard of rights before the law. However there was a real seperation of what men and women did. In the case of war, men went, women stayed home.
There are no documented cases of Egyptian warrior women. In it's 3,000 year history there is only one known woman who might have taken up arms. Queen Atthotep I, mother of the founder of the 18th Dynasty. Pharaoh Ahmose makes the claim that his mother after the death of her husband( the only Pharaoh known to have died in battle). Took up arms against the Hyskos and continued the fight. She is also the only woman, known to be buried with the Egyptian Gold Fly. An award normally won for showing personal valor against an enemy on the field of battle.
Hapsheput, Tiye, and Nefertiti all of the 18th Dynasty line that Queen Atthotep founded. Are shown as defeating enemies or make claims to have done so.
Not really surprising they would make such claims being of that bloodline. There is no actual proof of any of these latter queens leading armies, or stomping down Egypt's enemies.
The puzzle that Atthotep creates, is did she, or didn't she? Isn't helped in that she doesn't make the claim. Her son did!

What weapons did Egyptian have? Javlins (a weapon in between a spear, and sword), spears, a wicked looking sword that resembled a harvesters sickle, knives, sling shots, bows and arrows, and sticks. The long fighting sword didn't make its appearence into Egypt until the reign of Merenptah (19th Dynasty). The Egyptians also had armor made of and decorated with cattle, crocodile, hippo hides, and turtle shell.
Pharaoh Tutankhamun supposedly had armor made of linked gold.

Hand to hand combat which was in the movie, didn't really exist in ancient Egypt. Warfare was mostly fought at a distance with warriors favoring javlins, bows, sling shots, spears, and sticks. If you looked at a pre-Merenptah sword you would understand. It was not a very effective sword, it looked far worse than it really was.

Don't forget the infamous mace, which many inscriptions of Kings can be seen smiting their enemies with.

Supposedly the Hall of Reccords is a hidden chamber somewhere under the Sphinx, and contains the reccoreds of the past, present, and future of humanity. The idea was first made popular by readings from Edgar Cacey, a famous psychic.

I'm sure you can find a lot more on the web about it, but it's mostly not from an Egyptology oriented point of view, mostly metaphysical/spiritual/psychic. If you ask me, it's all a giant metaphor.

The idea of halls, or rooms full of papyrii under the Sphnix has been around for some time, probably since Cayce's statement that the halls would be discovered in 2002. Guess what? They weren't. After a long renovation, the SCA (supreme Coucil of Archaeology) announced that after a thorough exmination of the Sphnix and its surrounding territory, there wer no unexplored rooms or corridors beneath or around the Sphnix.

I always think that the Sphinx is the wrong place. Anything like a Hall of records would have been associated with a major temple, probably at Heliopolis, Memphis or Thebes. Why bury the whole of recorded humanity out by the tombs away from the seats of learning?

Adn the Sphinx has water damage that suggests it might be thousands of years older than its time. If the Sphinx was built over the Hall of Records, than that would have water damage too, and depending what was in it, It might have been destryoed.

I believe that there is nothing under the Sphinx. I mean I think they would have found it by now.

I read or heard somewhere that there was either a temple or writing under the sphinx. But no one can find out because the stupid government doesn't care for the history they just want the money.

Well , I watched a show recently that said that they have checked and they believe that nothing is under the Sphinx.

How can they tell? WHy don't they just move the slab in fornt of the sphinx and find out?
