You have quoted from the Torah/Bible so I must ask, do you take what is written as word for word?

I am interested when people quote the Torah concerning this period and of course respect peoples views if they are practising Jews or Christians, as the Torah/Biblle will be viewed as the word of God.

There is a text where Amenemone - probably a contemporary of Rameses II - says he was building the pylon called 'Beloved of Maet' in Memphis and 'soldiers and apiru' were dragging stone.

There is mention of the apiru/hapiru in the Amarna letters and else where in Egyptian history and there has been suggestions that these could be the remanents of the Hyskos, who had now become slaves or even mean Hebrews.

I think this is a name and subject which is still being researched.

A lot of people seem to cite Ramses II as the pharaoh. I myself am not entirely sure he is the pharaoh in the story. :|

What is everyone's reasoning for using Ramses II so often? If that story really happened, it could have been one of the other pharaohs from the 19th or 20th Dynasties.
