He seems to be very interesting. Like how he had so many temples built for himself, (I'm sure a lot of other pharaohs did as well, but it seems a lot of Rameses lasted through the years. The man who was born a commoner, ended up becoming one of Egypt's greatest kings. The thing is rameses never seems to acknowlege his common roots, I guess back then it wasn't looked upon highly.

I just wish we knew more of his private life, my goodness why didn't these pharaohs write in journals??

Don't forget that the pharaohs were thought of as the living gods.

It's such a pity it's half ruined though, as with other monuments.

Thanks for sharing that! I can imagine that would have looked stunning when it was in its heyday. It's such a shame that so many of those beautiful buildings have suffered but I guess time takes its toll. I can't help wondering if the Egyptians could have done something to help preserve them a long time ago.

The program on Ramesses UK channel 5 20/1/2009 did make an interesting comment which improved my opinion of Ramesses slightly - all previous battle reports were just basicly the Enemy saw pharoh and ran away. This is the nearest thing to a confession of error I know of.

I noticed they allow them to be viewed for one month. I wonder if they have any plans to bring the series out on DVD?
