Despite what we know about Amrna art and how they appear to have portrayed ave extremely unfavourably, the bust by Thutmose shows here to have been an icon of beauty.
Whether this was how she really looked or a stylised version of her I think it's stunning.
Being a girl, as most girls do we fuss about our looks. A lot of girls look more attractive with their hair down because it distracts from a less than perfect face. Without the hair down all we have to focus on is the face and unfortunately most of us come up short. Try it! Tie your hair bac and see how good you look?
Nefertiti on the other hand looks like the goddess she was supposed to be. Her hair, supposedly a woman's crowning glory, is covered, and she still looks stunning.

Check out the carving in the Berlin museum that's supposed to be Smenkhare and Meritaten. The mummy looks JUST LIKE HER!

The bust that is called Nefertiti is not named. It could be any Amarna period person who could wear the headdress - a daughter?

hi all...
Nefertiti, or whomever she may be (bust figure) is stunning. despite the chipped ear, which isn't what you really focus on, i'd rate her a 10. absolutely. perhaps i'm biased, but i've always felt my Mother bares a remarkable resemblance and Mom is definately a 10. :D

I can't think of any examples where any Amarna woman other than the queen was shown wearing the headdress. But I guess if we run with that idea though, it could technically be Meritaten or something.

Though this isn't really evidence, in my opinion her facial features seem to be a bit mature-looking to be one of the daughters though. Also, Nefertiti was represented way more often than any of the daughters (especially in the queen role), so odds are that this image is also her.

There is a statue that has been positely identified as Nefertiti, showing her as an older, mature woman. The face, allowing for a few wrinkles shown, is an exact rendition of the face shown in the bust.
There are several carvings showing Nefertiti, and the face of those (also identified as Nefertiti) is that of the bust. I think we can be 99.9% sure it is Nefertiti.

Judging from the statues I have seen of her, I think she was a quite attractive woman... no question why Akhenaten married her *sigh*
But, there can be a big difference between reality and statues, carvings shown, but maybe we'll never know the exact truth... so, from what I have seen so far, I give her an 8 (-2, because she was Akhenaten's wife and this makes little Lostris sad. and jealous. )

(i'm such a freak O.o)

I'd have to say an 8. It would be 10 going on the bust but if you add all the reliefs in there.... She looks ugly in them lol

The bust would get a 9 1/2 in my book, but in real life, she was probably more around a 7-ish.

I think the Bust in the Altes Museum in Berlin is very beautiful. I don't understand why people always want to change her appearance. The reconstruction on Discovery Channel looks like a man. I think the Berlin Bust is close to real life and from that time period. It is the best representation.

id give her a 10/10, judging by her bust...It was said that the eye thingy wasn't finishd i can't remember the reason..

from the drawings i don't think a reliable basis, u really can't draw a perfect pic of a person on stone..

and her name roughly translates "the beautiful [perfect] woman has come.

She is really beautiful [in addition to m answer above].

Here is one proof [from www.angelfire.com/art/ankhes/]

Nefernefruaten-Nefertiti was the Great Royal Wife of Akhenaten, his Chief Queen. Orginally, some Egyptologists felt that Nefertiti was a foriegn princess, sent as tribute to Egypt. They based this on the evidence that she did not seem to be her husband, Akhenaten's, sister or half-sister, and that her name "Nefertiti" (Nefer-t-iti: "A Beautiful Woman Has Come") was somewhat uncommon. Some felt that it was rather presumptuous for a mother to name her new daughter 'A Beautiful Woman has Come,' but really, when one thinks about it, doesn't every mother think that their child is the most beautiful in the world? Who's to say that Nefertiti's family didn't think that when she was born that the beautiful one had come?

Neferneferuaten = "Beautiful of the Beauties of Aten" "Perfect are the Perfections of Aten"
Nefertiti = "A Beautiful Woman Has Come" "The Beautiful One Has Come"
