The Quest for Immortality: Treasures of Ancient Egypt features the largest selection of antiquities ever loaned by Egypt for exhibition in North America. It includes objects that have never been on public display and many that have never been seen outside of Egypt. Ancient Egyptian beliefs and practices based on the afterlife journey of pharaohs will be dramatically illustrated through approximately 115 magnificent objects from Egypt and a life-sized reconstruction of the burial chamber of the New Kingdom pharaoh Thutmose III (1479-1425 BC). The exhibition is organized by United Exhibits Group, Copenhagen, and the National Gallery of Art, Washington, in association with the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Cairo. Objects are loaned by the Egyptian government and come from the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the Luxor Museum and the sites of Tanis and Deir el-Bahari.

I was gonna go to an event for members only at this exhibit on my birthday, November 4. I bought the membership for $45!! Then the confirmation tells me the confirmation page I print out is valid as a temporary membership card valid 30 days AFTER purchase date. And I won't receive my permanent card and membership materials for 2-3 weeks.

How dissapointing,!
Check it out carefully, though. That just doesn't sound correct. Usually, when you join an organization, you get a confirmation that is valid for 30 days, from the date of your joining. I've never heard of one that's valid 30 days after.

I wanted to see that but it was sold out

I bought my ticket yesterday for the members-only day on Saturday. Wish I could go to the opening party.

Over 1000 people crowded into the 3rd floor Art Museum ballroom on Sunday, and some 700 overflow watched on closed-circuit TV downstairs. What a show! Hawass, was, of course, extremely entertaining, and, at the end, dropped a couple of blockbusters on the audience: the most amazing being his prediction that the burial place of Cleopatra and Mark Antony was on the verge of being unearthed; that the location, in the Temple of Isis now being excavated in Alexandria, would yield tremendously exciting results by the end of the year.
