Ahlan!!!

I wrote the other message about "The Mummy". To continue with this topic, I'm going to put here a discussion we have in another forum in Spain. Which is your favourite character in these films? Mine is Evelyn Carnahan, because many many people say that I am like her.

Kisses,

EVIE

It has to be Imhotep, because he's just so ridiculous. They clearly did NO historical research in naming the villain 'Im-hotep.' Even the most crude translations don't make him sound at all evil - 'he who comes in peace?' 'he who comes with offerings?' 'Bringer of Satisfaction?'

No. They all sound to friendly. They should have called him Sethakhte or something. Or Kaemseth. Or Sethemsses (!). Those sounds nastier.

I voted Imhotep just because it's the only one I know better... I never saw the film 'til now

Doesn't everyone remember the two previous version of The Mummy that the recent one was a remake of???

Universal Films 1932 The Mummy starring Boris Karloff as Ardeth bay and Imhotep.

Hammer Films 1959 The Mummy - starring Christopher Lee as Kharis, the Mummy ( some of you youngins might know him better as Count Dooku from Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Saruman from Lord of the Rings) and Peter Cushing as John Banning( Grand Moff Tarkin from the original Star Wars: A New Hope). Both are well respected actors in the Victorian style horror genre of Hammer Films particularly from the 1950's thru through the 1970's.

The original of course! Start with Universal Films 1932 release The Mummy. Keep in mind this movie was made in 1932 so picture and sound quality is lacking.
