I am trying to find out info on Queen Nefertiti for an art class. We have to write a report that describes anything relating to her and art. I can comment on jewelry she wore, what her tomb was decorated like and stuff along those lines.

I have a bust of her and have written about that but haven't been able to find antyhing else. It seems like not much was known about her. Do I need to pick another Queen/King or can someone here tell me a little about her?

Thanks so much!

Here's a drawing of Nefertiti and her husband King Akhenaten worshipping in the temple:

This comes from the notebooks of Lepsius (German Egyptologist)

I did a reconstruction of this scene :D :

There are several pieces of art now in Berlin which can be found here:

It shows her husband daughters etc. as well.

You can do image searches on google as well. Just Nefertiti gives a lot of the same images but this one gives - among others - some interesting images of Nefertiti

If you can find a book about Nefertiti or Akhenaten in the library then you will get several more.

For as far as facts about her go, that's hard.

They don't know who her parents were.
We do know that her wet-nurse was a Lady called Tey, who was married to a courtier named Aye.
Nefertiti was named Neferneferuaten-Nefertiti after year 5 of her husband's reign.
She had a sister named Mutnodjemet who may be the same Mutnodjemet who married Pharaoh Horemheb, the successor of Tutankhamen.

Nefertiti was Akhenaten's priciple wife. She was the mother of 6 princesses: Meritaten, Meketaten, Ankhesenpaaten, Neferneferuaten-tasherit, Neferneferure and Setepenre.

Nefertiti and Akhenaten would ahve started their reign with Thebes as the capital. Her father-in-law Amenhotep III and his wife Queen Tiye had a great new palace built at Malqata.

Akhenaten was known as Amenhotep IV when he came to the throne. They started off erecting temples in Thebes.
But by ca yr 5 they moved the capital to a brand new city called Akhetaten (now referred to as Amarna).

A lot of books have been written discussing whether Nefertiti actually ruled together with Akhenaten or not.
Experts don't really seem to agree on what happened towards the end of the reign of Akhenaten.

Hope that gives you something to work with....
