From times ancient people have wondered about many things.How the Earth was created. Why people must work.What powers control the universe.
But one question is sought by those who experaince suffering.

What is the nature of evil?

The two most known gods of evil are Loki and Set.

For those who haven't read Thor,or Norse mythology here's a little.Loki was the son of fire giants. They were killed and he was adopted by Odin,King of the gods,Ruler of Asgard.He was at first a trickster god,but his pranks grew more and more hurtful.His intance rivalry with his brother Thor has inspired many comic books.And he killed his brother Baldur with miseltoe.
Then there is the little thing with Ragnarok and his hatred towards Heimdall,but I'll get to the point.

How those he compare with Set?

Set tricked Osiris into the coffin. ..Though, I think it's an over-generalized subject of "good and evil"; people trying to be smart..

Seth isn't really evil. He was a necessity for the Egyptians. Just the counter-part to righteousness that kept Ma'at in the balance. It was Egypt's border of life and death that was mirrored through society, and right through Mythology too.

I'm not sure if Loki and Seth are really very similar at all. Loki seems like an annoying child who tries succesfully to disrupt and annoy the other Gods using spells, trickery and just general mischief. Seth however was trusted by many of the Gods including Ra, was older and arguably more experienced with regards leadership to Horus, and the Gods spent nearly 100 years deciding which of the two should rule.

Seems interesting... Loki as an annoying child?... Oh, and I LOVE Seth!

The Norse seemed to have better morality than the Egyptians.After Loki killed Baldur and prevented him from returning,he was chained to a rock in Musphelliam.And a snake was put over his cheast to drip poisen on him.Sure,his wife caught the poisen in a cup but it was still punishment.
And he and Heimdall,who was the only god who never trusted Loki,will kill each other at Ragnarok.
While Seth was rewarded with two wifes.I don't get it.You kill one person,attempt to kill his son,and you get wives?

Heimdall and Loki were both fire gods. I think that Heimdall represented the kind aspect of fire.The one that keeps you warm.While Loki represents the flames that burn houses and destroy lives.

Er, no. I'm only an amateur in this comic-drawing thing and I don't want my comic published. I'm thinking about posting the papers into here, KTO, because the story is about pharaohs, queens (Akhenaten, Nefertiti, Smenkhare, Tut, etc.) . Anyway, I draw in manga style (you know it's from Japan) but I like drawing in chibi style, too - so kawaii!

Well, X-Men has manga influence. This one artist introduced it to American readers in that comic. On the other hand, this other manga guy gave Polaris an ugly costume. Purple & Green do not go together.

I'm guessing that whole balance thing is why there has never been a Horus comic book. Like most fantasy, they center on battles of good vs. evil. In the Norse case, the gods vs. giants.

Really! It's always been the giants vs. gods. And sometimes the gods do win, but sometimes they lose something. Usually integrity.
And it will all accumulate into the final battle, Ragnorak which literally means "Dwillight of the gods."

It's fitting that the Norse people would want their gods to die the same way they did: fighting outside sources that seek to destroy them. But the major gods children are destined to survive and...I could go on forever.

Did you know Loki is the father of a monstrous brood?

Odin told him to have nothing to do with the Giantess Angrboda. But he took her for a lover, and they had three children. The Norns prodectied that the children would one day destroy the gods. So they were banished.
Jormungard- a giant serpent. He surronds Midgard. So big his tail touches his mouth. When he shakes, tsunamis and earthquakes happen.
Hela-Part woman, part corpse. She was banished to Nifleheim. There she became Queen of the Dead. Are you old or sick? If you die you get sent to her realm.
Frenier-Intelligant Wolf. The gods thought he would be no harm to them.But the Norns prodected that he would be the death of Odin. So they tricked him into being chained. Tyr lost his hand in the process.

The Norse mythology is a compromise. They are more human than Greek deitities,and have better morality than Egyptians.

They're all about Norse mythology. Look it up, a little research never did anyone harm.

I think poor Set gets a bad press. He just had a bit of a temper and was full of pride. After all Osiris was his younger brother and yet Osiris was made Pharaoh instead of him. That must have been really annoying. Then (according to some myths) Set's wife seduced Osiris, and that can't have helped.

In earlier myths which place Set in opposition to Horus, he isn't depicted as particularly nasty. Instead he represents Upper Egypt while Horus represents Lower Egypt. Some think that the followers of Horus won the battle to unify Egypt ans started to depict Set as a negative influence. He was also associated with the Hyksos invaders who seemed to like him for his warlike nature. But Ramessess II also appreciated his martial skills.

It is time to rehabilitate this missunderstood god and stop calling him evil.

I think the most evil entity in Egyptian mythology is Apep (Apophis) the serpent that tried to devour the sun every night. Set was one of the deities who protected Ra from this dangerous being, but it seems he fell out of favour with the sun god because he was so boastful and proud.
