Sure. But I suppose it depends what it is. PsyPharaoh gave me a really nice piece of software to use, which I strongly urge all of you to download unless you've done so already:

http://www.iut.univ-paris8.fr/~rosmord/JSesh

It really is an incredible program.

Yeah- well that is still under development and seems incredibly impersonal. Plus, Hieroscribe can be influenced by pupils and adapts over time. Plus- we can always claim to have more experience in the online Hieroglyph teaching field, as our system was launched a whole two days before Dr. Hansens.

And ours is completely free.

But their system looks infintely cooler, and has an M.A tutor. I havent even taken a single public exam.

Are you really going to plan a hiero-learning-group?!?
I'd like to learn hieroglyphs too!
Is the group under construction?!?

Hehe..

Well, if you want to learn, it is best to start with the basics, which can be learned by private study.

There's a site, http://fnspo.cz/mmm/egypt/hiero/7.htm, which I still use to reference my translations. The actual lessons start here.

Also, you should get a copy of How to Read Egyptian Hieroglyphs by Mark Collier and Bill Manley. That's another good reference.[/url]

I've already red that book, and I've also Egyptian Grammar by Gardiner and the Faulkner's Dictionary...but I need somebody for creating a study-group.
I think that studying with other people could be the right way for a good learning...

I can send you the first few lessons. I'm still writing them, but just not sending them out by e-mail. Give me your e-mail address. Really KTO is the best place to start out. Ask questions on this thread and I'll answer them. If you get stuck in your personal study, or need any help.

Awesome! So you know your stuff, probably more than me (which isn't hard to do!)! Well, even if there isn't a set "group" project, we still have this forum for use..

So, here's my question for the hieroglyphic wiz. I know that single signed objects (snake, reed, feather, etc.) are translated into a one letter sound (the boot is "b", the forearm is "d", the baby bird is "u/w", etc.) but what about multiple consonant signs? There are words whose contents have nothing to do with the alphabet, so how are they tranliterated? I don't mean determinatives, but things like the scarab (read "skh", I think)..

(Scarab is a triliteral sound which is red "kheper" ).... They are translated with...three or two sounds! And sometimes they are followed by some monoliteral (is it right?!?) sound wich don't have to be transliterated but they are a help for the phonetic reading...

Oh no! I shouldn't have answered...It's better if I stay "listening" Psusenne's answers which are much complete, in a prefect english (mine is not!)...Excuse me but I love talking in english, also if I really don't know it much...
Chiaraal

..it really wouldn't be a bad idea to have GEG group...

Psus, you are actually the only one who can do something, 'cos you have already done so many lessons there...what do you think?
I know that you may need time to arrange, but if we refer to the GEG, so noone needs to write lessons, which require so much time....and still everybody wish to be helpful, included me...
