Um...King Tut wasn't buried in a pyramid...he was buried in the Vally of the Kings in a secret burial chamber...the pyramid thing went out by the end of the old kingdom because they were frequent targets for tomb raiders.

Ankhesenpa-aten was right when she said Tutankhamun wasn't buried in a Pyramid. However, the Valley of the Kings lies at the foot of the mountain named Meretseger. This mountain which towers over all the KV tombs is actually a naturally shaped pyramid.

That is okay Pharaoh Kel, you would be surprised by the number of people that don't know about Mt. Meretseger. That is why i posted it. Also so KingTutOne.com stays ahead of the other Egyptian boards, i hope so anyway

Also, from the New Kingdom onwards it was common for noblemen to be buried in tombs that were designed to relate them to all three cults of Egypt. Underground chambers in the tomb were linked to the Osiride cult, a ka statue and offerening room at ground level were linked to the idea of sustinance in the next life and worship for the deceased (often containing serdab statues), and a pyramid structure at the upper level and the entrance to the tomb (only a few of which survive today) linked to the Heliopolitan cult of the sun.

So many noblemen were buried in tombs that had pyramid-like structures at the entrance, with large doors leading to an upper and lower tomb complex. The tombs of Horemheb and Meryneith at Saqqara are particularly fine examples of this.

Sekhmet, you mentioned Mt. Meretseger, and it's natural pyramid shape. But I wonder, was it always shaped as a pyramid, or has it eroded with time?

I know it's a silly question; it takes millions of years for significant form to shape, not thousands... But then again, I don't know what type of substances Meretseger is made of... Wind consistancies, sand vs. soil, etc.
