Hey, I have to do an english paper, and although it doesn't specify what topic, it has to be something along the lines of how x influenced y, or something that effected a person, event...etc... I've come up with three topics: the evolution of the roles of the Netjeru, the influence of women (particularly Queen's), and the influence of the Amarna period. I can't decide which one I want to do, and was thinking of somehow incorperating all three into one thesis, but I can't think of a good way to do that. Anyone have any ideas?
Hi Ankhesenpa-aten it wouldn't be impossible to incorperate it all as you are thinking. It might be though to big to work comfortably. If it was me, i would start with the defination, and explanation of Netjeru. Bringing into the discussion the influence of the Queen and how she complement the King's power but not in a way that lead to an equality between King and Queen. Then introduce the 18th Dynasty of which the Amarna period was the final and greatest expression of equality Netjeru between King and Queen.
Because so many folks still believe that Akhenaten came up with his revolution all by himself. It might be hard to describe how his "Amarna Revolution" was actually the final expression, in his dynasty of the advancement of Royal women, nearly unequaled in Egyptian history. This starting with the rule of the "God's Wife" Queen Ahhotep I, her daughter Ahmose-Nefertari, followed by Hatshesut. Then followed by the "non-God's Wives" Queens Tiye and Nefertiti. The advancement of the Aten, that begins without doubt in Tuthmosis IV reign and might find it's 18th Dynasty favor beginning in Tuthmosis III reign.
It is an awful large amount of data to incorperate and still keep readable. It is very possible to do so, but will require a great deal of effort. If you decide to take the challenge, the best of luck. If you decide not to, understandable really. Either way, Ankhesenpa-aten i would enjoy reading it when you are done.
