There is a chance that the person could have been buried under the wrong name BUT shouldnt the persons (expecialy the royaltys) cartouche stated their true name, however, wouldnt the respect of the dead prevented them being incorrectly buried in the first place?
this is simply backing up the fact that if their is a cartouche you could be pretty sure of who it is, though DNA testing would be alot better way of knowing to my line of thought,
You're right Tash, if the purpose of the reburials was to protect the royal dead. There is evidence that the true purpose of the reburials was to obtain the wealth of the buried royals. This evidence being the later reuse of coffins, and grave goods by those Pharaohs alive during the reburials. The lack of jewels and grave goods of the reburied royals in their new resting place. Given that what was really happening was offical robbery of the dead it isn't surprizing that some indentities might have been mixed up.
