alrighty...my turn.

Without using google or another site, tell me the female counterparts for the following:

Nun
Kek
Heh
Amun

What did they form? What was so important about them?

Taking a stab at it I can say that they were probably either Pharoahs or The Creators.

first off, NO. Second...you repeated Heh and his counterpart. You left out Nun. Amun and his counterpart are NOT gods of "things." And no cheating.

I hate to spoil your fun, but Pink_Floyd got the first question completely wrong. The world's largest pyramid isn't in Egypt. It is the Pyramid of Quetzlcoatl at Teotihuacan in Mexico.
The Pyramid of the Sun (as it is also known) is takes up more than 40 acres (Khufu's occupying just 14) and the Pyramid of the Sun has a volume 20% greater than that of the Pyramid of Khufu at Giza. Although it is only the third highest pyramid on the planet, it is without doubt the largest.

Thus, all of Pink_Floyd's answers so far are WRONG!

I am going to try to correct Pink_Floyd on the last question, but I didn't check up on it so I might have got some of it wrong. It's a tough question, Meryetamun.

Nun & Naunet ..............................primordial waters of chaos
Kuk & Kauket ..............................darkness and the unknown
Heh & Hauhet .............................infinity and formless eternity
Amun & Mut (or Amaunet) ............head of the gods/ uniting of Egypt

I think that's right. Hey- I'm a scribe- Yay!

Also, considering that lots of pople will read this, a quick reminder that 'In Search of Cleopatra' 'Timewatch' is on:
Sat, 18. September 2004 8.00PM on UKTV History
Sun, 19. September 2004 2.00PM on UKTV History

Anyway. Onto the next (preferably ironic) question!

With regard to Amun and Amaunet, they were for most of Egyptian mythology not actually the head Gods. only from the New Kingdom onwards did Amun recieve much attention outside of Thebes. Amaunet never recieved the smae attention at all. In early times they embodied the invisible and the hidden. The name AMun actually means "the hidden one", alluding to his invisible nature.

oh, and an on topic remark: New signature for me!! Thanks goes to L33ch for making it transparent (the corners) and for the gradient. I made the two people in there, the left is my sister, the right is me. The border's kinda weird..but hey, I use MSPaint. All that 'cept the transparency and the gradient is done in MSPaint, so it's pretty good.
