I acquired some artifacts that I'v been trying to research. The mummy mask was given stamp of approval by Sotheby's supposed expert but she seemed to think the wooden figure was wrong stylistically because of skirt, size etc. aprox. 16" tall, feet have old repair not sandal straps, I'm a total novice so need someones expert opinion or point me in right direction. Thanks, KellyImage

The second object looks like a wooden (?) ka statute, which I'd date tentatively to the Middle Kingdom based on the box-skirt and rounded haircut. It's difficult to tell whether the object is a fake or simply shoddily made though - the figure seems poorly proportioned (the head and hair are too large, the waistline is too low, and the facial features are poorly arranged), the skirt angle seems odd, and the feet are too small and not in the traditional 'striding' position. I'd err on the side of caution, and conclude that even if real, the object is a terrible example of Middle Kingdom sculpture.

These other, similar objects might help you make up your mind:
