| When was Rosetta Stone was made? I think it was made during the Roman empire, that's when Greek was known. But, I might be wrong. |

Oh. How did they know Greek? That was waaaay before the Roman Empire. Did they say that it was written in 196 BC or that the stone was formed in 196BC? _________________

| It was made to celebrate the crowning of Ptolemy V Epiphanes when he was about 12 years old. There were a lot of riots at the time and the priests made grants of land and grain to try and pacify the populace. The Rosetta Stone also commemorates this. |

What I just said
To commemorate the crowning of Ptolemy V and the grants of land he made to quell the rioting in the streets although it was probably the priests acting on his behalf. He was only 12. |

I wanted to know if anyone else noticed this before. Thutmose III wasn't able to rule when his father died and he was twelve, Hatshepsut became his regent. Then, Tutankhaten has to rule and he's only 8 1/2 or 9, and he rules by himself! Then, as you just said, Ptolemy was ruling when he was 12. I think it would be scary to live in a country ruled by a nine-year-old (Especially since I have one for a brother!) _________________ -Akhenaten- |

It is scary. Kids don't really put things into focus. They don't really think. So, if they don't like something, and if they have power, well, they don't think what's best for their country, they are selfish. I don't think I would've been a very good leader when I was 9. _________________

that is a good point but i think that back then the children in the royal families had much more knowledge than other children adn knew what was going on in the world and etc. i think they knew this because their father woudl never know when eh was goign to die and have his son take over. I also think that back then kids were mature, take marraige for example didn't they marry a lot younger than we do now? well that is my opinon.

Of course. Yes they would be trained, but maturity stillhas it's limits. He would have to be a very gifted child to have enough maturity to rule a country at the age of 9. _________________
