What isn't considered when considering 19th dynasty dates for Exodus is the origin of that date. The origin of Biblical chronology is an amazing story that dates to the 3rd century BC, takes off in the 3rd century, grows into the 17th century AD and is completed in the early 19th century AD. The errors of those early chronographers to date the age of the earth not only gives a creationists belief of a total Earth history of 6000 years. It also gives us the date of the 19th dynasty and Ramesses II or his son as the Pharaoh of Exodus.
Archaeology does not back this nor does it support an 18th dynasty Exodus. _________________

Has anybody read Uriel's Machine - Lomas & Knight - which discusses the possibility of a disagreement between factions as to how the year is calculated
perhaps this is why there is a confusion of dates?? |

I like David Rohl alot... his new chronlogy just doesn't match up.
His premise is that the biblical time is correct... so let's move egyptology to match it. Probably better to go the other way.
Better archaeology in Ethiopia is probably the key to this.
One of those Christian historians has Moses 70 years before the flood of Deucalion... that would be around 1520BC or so. Moses is also described being in the time of Hatshepsut (1500-1480BC).
I think it is Thutmosis 2 who kills all the ethiopians (is he linked to Phaethont?)
With this timeframe, Moses would be one of the Thutmosis.
There is a very good argument to put moses around the time of Hatsheput / Thutmosis 3
There is also a theory that the queen of sheeba is Hatshepsut. The archaeology of Hatshepsut has been carbon dated, and is pretty good. I think there is a red temple at Karnak attributed to her.
If you were to make this connection, you would have to place Solomon at 1500BC. Solomon is generally put at 1000BC. You can make a good argument to move him to 1100BC.... but not 1500BC.
The 18th dynasty where Hatshepsut seems to have some Ethiopian blood lines.... but I put the Queen of sheeba later. It is very tempting to call Hatshepsut the queen of Theba but I can't reconcile the time frame.
There is an argument for 2 exoduses.
There is also a very strong argument for Akhenaten around 1350 BC.
You could even say the cristian historian(Josephus?) got his floods mixed up... and was talking about the flood of Laomedon(1280BC).
Akhenaten abdicates the throne and founds Akhetaten(which has 80,000 people).
There is a strange/interesting theory linking Akhenaten to Oedipus and Moses.
There is also a very good argument for moses being the general of Akhenaton, Mermose.

Maatkara, I hope you didn't mind, but I also happened to read the article you so generously provided, and I have to say it was an interesting and informative read. ^_^ And I read where it said: "It paved the way for Akhenaten's crusade to establish the visible disk of the sun as sole god." That makes me relieved after someone stated Akhenaten "founded" Heliopolis. As I've said before, no comment on it. But thanks, I'm happy to have read it, and I hope you didn't mind me reading it! _________________

I am glad that you found it interesting, but you should read more carefully and not only the first four lines!! |

Oh, Maatkara, don't get me wrong, I read the entire thing! I was just quoting a line it had said about Akhenaten, that's all! ^_^; Sorry if it sounded like I didn't read it in its ENTIRETY. Heliopolis is one of my favorite ancient Egyptian cities, next to Karnak, Memphis, Thebes and Akhetaten, which is my number one pick, even though all that remains are the foundations of buildings, and it was unfinished, but I still like it! _________________
