| Pharaoh Tutankhamun would have eaten many of the fish that live in the Nile along with mutton (adult sheep), lamb, and cattle for meats. He would have eaten lentiles, bread, and veggies to round out his diet. He drank beer, wine, and water. In his tomb the majority of wine that was buried with him was a sweet date wine, presumely his favorite. |

No fish for the Pharaoh, I think. Religious reasons... _________________ <i>"Sorry, did I say something wrong? Hi Shane i didn't care for my first answer to your question Tut had a wide varity of foods to eat. Now that i am home i can get you a really neat site that really gives one an idea of just what all he could eat.

Mineral Nutrition of Coastal Cultures in Pre-Historic Times
by John Heinerman, Ph.D
http://www.traceminerals.com/coastal_cultures.html
Another reliable indicator for mineral nutrition long ago rests in the mummies of ancient Egypt's pharaohs. Those who diets were chiefly from planted crops and domesticated animals did not seems to live as long, nor enjoy as good health as some of those who subsisted on a lot of fish and other forms of marine life and vegetation. The former group showed evidence of arthritis, cancer and other diseases in their remains during pathological examinations. On the other hand, those few pharaohs who consumed food from oceans and rivers manifested very little disease patterns within their remains. This remarkable discovery has been largely attributed to the generous supply of minerals they received from such water- derived food sources. |

i dont know much about it, but i can tell you that the most common thing eaten among the egyptians was bread. but due to the way they gruond the wheat, (between two stones) it wore down your teeth because of the grains of rock that got into it _________________ I like people,

I read a review about a book, i forget what its called but it was a translation from ancitent egyptian about the meaning of egyptian dreams, one of them that was mentioned was that its a bad omen if you drink hot beer in your dream. guess there realy isnt much difference between now and then, nobody likes hot beer _________________ I like people,

But that is the thing, the dream was IF you drank hot beer, doesn't that sugest that the Egyptians may have had COLD beer, if so they must have had a way of cooling it, i am not suggesting anything but the book was a translation from ancient Egyptians, that means it was written in ancient egyptian times, so i guess what i am saying is that if there was a possibilty of hot beer there would have had to have been cold beer, or otherwise there would have been no such thing as hot beer, wich would also mean that there would have had to have been a way to cool the beer _________________ I like people,

Are you sure? I mean, they do show nobles fishing a lot on tombs and such. ...maybe it's just certain cults that didn't allow people to eat fish. _________________ *Tadukhipa*

Egyptians stored their beer in clay pots. These clay pots kept the beer cooler than the outside temps. So in fact, the Egyptians did have cool beer better than hot beer anyway _________________
