Meryet I guess this was the type of guest who posts here, then leaves, clears out the temporary internet files, sells his computer, moves to a deserted island and forgets that such thing as Internet exists... in other words, we'll never hear from him again. |

LOL... that's good
BTW I'm no saint and I'm not saying I've never done this on several boards but that were long ago when I had internet only at school and if I bookmarked anything, next time I had to search for it among dozens of bookmarks of porn and warez sites. Sharing a computer with hundreds of students has some disadvantages. So I'm trying not to be too hard on these "tomb robbers"...
...if only they weren't this annoying!!! |

Meriaton,
Even though you admit to doing this years ago I have a hunch that your pleas for help were most likely a bit more articulate than "I need help! please!!" or "I need to know all about Pharaohs! ASAP!!"
It just astounds me that with all the information that is available, especially on the internet, that some of these students can be so lazy as to post anonymous generic requests hoping that someone will give them all the information they need about a civilization that has a history of more than 3 millenia. How freakin hard is it to type in a few known terms like Egypt, Pharaoh, or King Tut for cryin out loud, in a search engine. Or better yet pick up a damn book. I have no problem with students who post on boards with legitimate and specific questions hoping to gain a better understanding about a subject but some of these students just kill me with their "night before the paper due date" request for information!
Ok, I'm sorry. I got a little carried away for a minute there...lol _________________

You're right and I think most of the regular contributors of the board feel the same way. The admin REALLY should do something but it seems he is too busy to glance at the board sometimes |

It's not just this board. They pop up on every board I've ever posted on. I don't really know how the adminstrator can do anything to prevent it from happening. Even if they eliminate the GUEST option and require that somone registers in order to post it could still happen. If they require that an email address be used for registration and send a confirmation to that address in order before registration is accepted people like me wouldn't be here because I don't give an email address ever (or at least not a real one). I think it is more in the hands of the moderators do just delete these type of generic requests for information as soon as they appear. However, moderators can't spend 24 hrs aday monitoring this site and it would also be at the moderators descretion to decide what is a legitimate question or request for help and what is not. Plus there is no way of knowing up front if someone is ever going to return to ask follow up questions or even check to see if their first question was answered. So really I feel there is nothing that can be done other than ignore these types of posts...........
Anyways isn't this the Pharaoh section??? Who is your favorite Per-Aa? _________________

My favorite is Akhenaten, as it probably seems from my choice of nickname I also like Prince Khaemwaset (okay, he's not a pharaoh, but almost...) I've never been a fan of warriors and conquerors, I prefer men with a mind and soul. |

Hi Meriaton!
Ahh...Akhenaten. He his also one of my favorites and perhaps the most mysterious and intriguing characters. The New Kingdom, particularly the 18th dynasty, seems to be of most interest to me. Probably because it was Egypt's golden age and it is the most popular and well documented period. My favorites pharaohs are a toss up between Amenhotep III and Hatshepsut. I also find the life of Thutmosis III quite interesting given that he was overshadowed by Hatshepsut in his youth and ended up becoming one of the most powerful Pharaohs of the era. _________________

Good ol' Akhenaten... Yep. Him and Tut are my favorites (I know, my answer is very original but still...) They're overrated for a reason! _________________ *Tadukhipa*

Well, I am, gonna take it a teeny further back and go for Amenhotep III. I find Akhenaten the msot interesting Pharaoh but by no means my favourite as that would imply some form of fondness and if the truth is told I actually quite despise Akhenaten! _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |
