I don't know for sure what animal Set is. I always thought he was some kind of dog-thing, like Anubis, maybe.

Yes, Anubis is a jackal, though jackals aren't black. Anubis is black b/c that is the color of the corpses when they had natron on them.

Pi Ramesse wasn't dedicated to him, not him alone anyway, but the previous city of Avaris, on which Pi Ramesse was built, and was the capital of the Hyksos certainly was. They were very fond of Seth! The four main temples of Pi Ramesse were dedicated to Amun and Ra of course, Ptah and another god/goddess. I don't have the right book with me right now but 'Ramesses' by Joyce Tyldesly tells you.
And i have to vote for Seth. At least he went for what he wanted. Osiris fights him, looses and becomes God of the Underworld then lets his wife and son do his fighting for him. WUSS!!!!!
