Hey, I read a news story with Hawass in in the other day. It was about Ramses I's mummy being returned to Egypt. Here's some of my favorite quotes...... These are all from this page:http://search.news.yahoo.com/search/news/?c=&p=hawass
"Hawass rejected the possibility of carrying out DNA tests on the mummy because "its results are only 42 percent exact."
But Gaballah Ali Gaballah, Hawas's predecessor at the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said "with modern methods, especially using DNA, it (his identity) can be investigated very very easily."
"Hawass ruled out the possibility of DNA tests, calling them unreliable. Egyptian antiquity officials have always rejected DNA tests on mummies of pharaohs, possibly fearing the tests could challenge established theories. "
That last one was good, not having tests because the facts would challenge established theories????? HOW STUPID!!!!!!!!! They want everyone to believe a possible lie instead of endeavoring to find the truth????
Here, these are my favorite quotes, from the story "Pharaoh's Return Prompts Call for More Treasures."
"Egypt's antiquities chief said on Sunday the return of a royal mummy, probably the pharaoh Ramses I, was a message to others to give back ancient artifacts. "
""This ... is a message to other people all over the world that they should do the same. If you do have a masterpiece in a museum outside Egypt, I think this masterpiece should come home and home means Egypt," said Zahi Hawass, secretary general of Egypt's Supreme Council for Antiquities. "
"Hawass also said he wanted five "masterpieces" returned from museums abroad for a three-month exhibition in Egypt. He gave no timetable and said he was not speaking for the government. "
This one's the best.....
"I am not asking for these five pieces to come back for good. These museums have the right to these objects because they bought in the time when antiquities were sold, and we do not have (the) right to return them," Hawass said. "
What a jerk!!!! The items were bought, therefore, they BELONG to the museum they are in, and NOT returning them would be thievery!!!! I can't believe he says he doesn't have the right to return the objects!!!!!! I wish he would get fired!!!! He didn't used to be like that. My Mom and I said it must be because he's mad that he's had 3 Live TV specials and hasn't found anything "Spectacularly Amazing" like he wanted to find, and the last one was just the straw that broke the camels back. He's crazy!!!!!!!! _________________ -Akhenaten- |

*Takes Sphinx off of Amunmose and puts it on top of Hawass* Not in a way that would actually kill him or anything... ...just sort of like how anvils fall onto cartoon characters. Sure he's a neat little pancake now... But soon he'll be back to normal and saying more stupid things. I promise.
There's so much that could be learned through DNA! It just makes me so mad to know that we could know, but we don't because of someone's odd opinions. Urgh! *puts Great Pyramid on top of the spinx*. I'd throw on an anvil or a piano on top of it as well, but that might be overdoing it. _________________ *Tadukhipa*

He bugs me sooooooo much!!!!!!! I can't believe that National Geographic helped him get his job!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, There's a new Egyptian story in National Geographic, it's the cover-story, about the treasurer of Akhenaten. I was SOOOOOOOOO HAPPY when I saw that it wasn't written by Hawass!!!!! He doesn't get everything right when he talks about the Amarna-Period. Anyways, it was good, but short. Oh well. Read it anyways. _________________ -Akhenaten- |

I read that!!! Yeah, it's good. I like to think that the Maia mentioned is the Maia who was Tut's nurse... I just like it when things are connected that neatly _________________ *Tadukhipa*

Oh my gosh, it's so dumb...when you first start watching it, you think it's the beginning of a documentary, and it's like, 'zahi hawass is the master of egypt and has been searching for facts....blablabla' but really it's just a stupid toyota commercial and it's so funny cuz he can't keep balance when it shows him walking through the desert!!!
