I need as much information as you can get me about the plot to kill Ramses III, who was involved in the conspiracies and such. If you know anything, post what you know here. Thanks. _________________

I know it was by at least one of his wives. I think it might have been because her son wasn't going to inherit the throne. I'm not really positive on this though, it's one of those things I've been meaning to read about but I haven't gotten around to it yet. (Maybe after I learn how to write in hieroglyphs... ) _________________ *Tadukhipa*

I know only some names like Pentaware, son of Ramesse III, then Mesedsure, Binemwase and Panek. But these aren't their birth names, because they were changed. Did Ramesse die in that plot? _________________ <i>"Sorry, did I say something wrong? He didn't die. If he did, his son Pentawer would have been Pharaoh and we wouldn't know about this at all... The wife was called Tiye. The others involved were mentioned with their names changed -- Mesedjsure ("Re hates him") possibly was Meryre ("Re loves him") originally, and Binemwase ("the evil in Thebes") could have been Khaemwase ("Born in Thebes" -- a popular name in the 20th dynasty).
(Info is from "Understanding Hieroglyphs" by Hilary Wilson.)
The whole thing reminds me very much of a similar plot to kill Pepy II. The queen involved there was Weretkhetes, also called Weretimtes, and her plot was discovered, too, although I don't know whether she wanted her son to be king or she wanted something else. Who's to say that history doesn't repeat itself? |

Sad thing: I knew Meryre and Khaemwase already. I need to figure out the real names of Pentaware (ESPECIALLY Pentaware, I'm writing a book about the thing from his POV) and Panek.

He did die although not straight away. Later in the report Ramses is refered to as 'The Great God' meaning he died, probably as a result of the conspiracy (poison maybe) but I believe he lived long enough to start the investigation.
It was partially his fault though for having not properly established order of priority among his wives and their children. Cartouches which should have held the name of his Great Royal Wife are left blank although it appears to have been Isis who was probably the mother of Ramses IV |

| Yeah and it used to confuse the hell out of me:-) I know he had a son called Amunhirkhepshef, Khamewase and Sethhirkhepshef. Sure there were more. |

| He probably didn't have much choice over using names used by Rameses II when you consider how many names Rameses II must have used. |
