yip, I think it was banned in about 1988 due to the fact it was deemed unsafe to do so. You can still get up with special permission or bribes, but even if you do bribe most of the guards there is still the 'head guard' who would shoot as soon as seeing you.
Permission is mostly granted to those like the discovery channel who the cash.
It's patrolled 24 hours a day so you can't even sneak up there at night.

Well, oficially it isn't allowed, but you can climb it without permission. Just give the guarding policeman a pound and he'll let you climb it. I think it applies for the great pyramid too, but I'm not 100% sure... _________________ <i>"Sorry, did I say something wrong? Quite a few people have fallen from the pyramids and died. That's one of the main reasons why climbing them is forbidden. _________________ |\| e F e r t i |< a u r E |

Do you mean a pound as in a blow to the head or a pound as in an Egyptian pound? _________________

I don't think people should climb it because it might damage the pyramid. _________________

yes, that's why the guards are there, but they are so corrupt, as one of my friends remarked, "if you give him 5 pounds, he'll let you climb and if you give him 10, he'll take you up on his back" |

i'm scared of heights too but death doesn't sound scary. In fact, the fields of Iaru are a wonderful place. _________________

Nooo... I could resist the temptation I would never do it 'cause if everyone would climb the pyramid, it would damage it. I can imagine how wonderful could it be to be on the top of a pyramid and look around, but if you want to see a beautiful panorama, go to the Citadel. |

What would happen if someone climbed a pyramid in ancient Egypt, and it was during the New Kingdom? _________________
