Several years ago, Dr. Joanne Fletcher did a special for Discovery which documented her belief that the mummy of Nefertiti had been found. The so-called "Younger Lady" that was found, with two other mummies, in the tomb of Amenhotep II.
Her methods of announcing that theory to the world did not go over well with Hawass. e went out of his way to dis-credit her ideas--even so far as to having DNA taken from the mummy that, in his opinion, "proved" she was really a he!
Since that time, the big brou-ha-ha has calmed down. Her ideas have been dis-credited by most Egyptologist. |

I heard there is going to be a show tonight on the Discovery Channal showing the supposed mummie of Nefertiti. But honestly I don't think they know what they are talking about. We'll see. _________________ Still open minded...

| It's probably a repeat of the Fletcher story. See comments above... |

I personally didn't believe it... It made me wonder whether the other information in Nefertiti Resurrected was correct or not.... _________________

tnrees, I don't know if the recent broadcast wasa repeat of the Fletcher story or not. Previously, I had posted this:

I've also heard that DNA tests on mummies is extremely sketchy though, so the mummy might not actually be a "he".
That being said, I think that Fletcher's theories were based on flimsy evidence. I remember somebody also saying that the mummy was the wrong age.
Maybe the KV35 "elder lady" is Nefertiti? *shrugs* _________________ *Tadukhipa*

Nobody will ever know for certain just who those mummies are, but that's what makes debating about it so fun. _________________ The limit of one's craftsmanship cannot be attained. -paraphrase of the sage Ptahotep |

JoAnn Fletcher has claimed to found the mummy of Nefertiti
There is not alot of evidence supporting the mummies true identity
Zahi Hawass and others are not even sure if the subject is female
some info can be found at www.mummytombs.com 2003 archive news
