I love the Amarna people! It all started while researching for a novel, but while looking up info, I got bit by the Egyptology bug. The book's near done, but I doubt the research will be. I'm near obsessed! _________________ *Tadukhipa*

The mystery of ancient civilizations is what I love the most...I could endlessly stare at an ancient artifact and never be less amazed by it. _________________ |\| e F e r t i |< a u r E |

I agree with the latter two posts. I love the Amarna period! Akhenaten was so amazing! Ancient artifacts fascinate me so much, sometimes I loose track of the time when I'm looking at pictures of artifacts. If you want to see some really amazing artifacts and you're anywhere near Chicago, Illinois, you HAVE to go to the Oriental Institute of Chicago's museum. It's free and it's INCREDIBLE!!!!!! They've got a 27-foot-tall statue of Tutankhamen, and it's so well preserved you could ahve sworn it was not 2,000 years old. They've also got a little piece about the size of a saucer that's limestone, it's a carved relief of Akhenaten, one of those practice pieces. I can't even explain how many things they have in that one room! It isn't that big, but if you want to see some amazing things without spending a dime, you've gotta go. _________________ -Akhenaten- |

*packs suitcase* I'm coming too. I went to Chicago just last summer, but I hadn't heard of the Oriental Institute so I didn't go... _________________ *Tadukhipa*

Well, next time you go to Chicago, make sure you visit! It's on the campus of the Chicago Universtiy (Can't remember the name of it!) and it's the museum for the Oriental Institute, which is where you can study Egyptology, and where Barbara Mertz (Pseudonym Elizabeth Peters) got her Ph.D
I can't wait 'til I got back again! In October they're going to open other exhibits, including Bablyonian and Assyrian, and I can't wait to see that, though it's nowhere near as interesting as seeing the Egyptian artifacts (But it gives me an excuse to go!) _________________ -Akhenaten- |

the part that i most love about ancient egypt, is the mysterious parts, on missing mummies and stuff like that- you know- how they dont know who is in that tomb and this tomb, and esp. the valley of the kings, how there are so many unknown tombs, i would love to explore those areas. _________________ Ashley |

| My favorite thing about ancient Egypt is the Amarna period. It is like reading a Mystery book that never ends just when you think you have figured it out some new evidince pops up and you have to make your theory fit the evidence. |

I agree with you Tiya. Also, all we need to do is give one of the Amarna crew an evil twin, and we already have a full-fledged soap opera. _________________ *Tadukhipa*

I love the great Pyramid, it has so much mystery. i started out just liking the great pyramid and then i went to research it and i found so many other cool things in egypt that i liked, i started to like the great pyramid in 8th grade when my social studies treacher told us about it, its so interesting! and then i got the game tomb raider (coolest game ever) kinda by accident and i played it and fell in love with it, it is by the far the best game in the world. if u play it play Tomb raider: the last revelation, the whole thing is based in egypt and she goes everywhere in egypt and u go in the great pyramid and the sphinx and tombs and temples and i love it! so if u like egypt u prolly love it too! but the Tomb Raider movie isnt like the game at all, i was hoping she would go to egypt but she didnt alright ive babbled enough! play tomb raider! _________________ Yea, Im gonna need you to come in on Sunday... |

I love everything mysterious about Ancient Egypt, Amarna period and especially Tutankhamen, because there's so little know of him. I also like their art - the statues, paintings in tombs, paintings on papyrus, little statues, jewellery... _________________ <i>"Sorry, did I say something wrong? I like the "lost" areas of Egypt. The less known areas. I barely knew of Meryetamun even when I took her name (But added my own little flare with the Dark in front of it). All I knew was that I had read about her in a fiction book called the Pharaoh's Daughter. I love unknown. _________________
