I can't agree with the rest of what Zahi Hawass said. He shouldn't forbid foreigners to excavate in Egypt. This is simply ridiculous.
We're all human, and that's how I view it. Who cares where you were born? We should all be able to study Egypt, and excavate there.
I completely agree with the above statements. My opinion of Zawi Hawass is not very high. |

And what do you think is under the Sphinx? I bet he wouldn't want anyone to know.
IMO, he is a HawASSYRIAN. _________________

Probably something that will shake the world of Egyptology so much that all the theories would prove wrong. I think it's something that would reveal a Graham Hancock-type thing (read his books if you haven't done so!) |

Don't kill me, please, but I rather like Hawass. Mostly because he's funny... _________________ <i>"Sorry, did I say something wrong? HAHAHAHAHA!! LOL! No, I promise I won't. I normally steer clear of making fun of people and their names, but Hawass earned it. hehe. And, Neith, why would I kill you? It's opinion...plus, I'm not allowed to even if I wanted to. I'm a mod. Not supposed to kill people. LOL. _________________

Sometimes I like him too... whatever he does, it's clear that he loves Egypt, and I loved what he said about the pyramids, that "pyramids had to be built with love", opposed to the belief that they were built by slaves (which we know isn't true but average people still believe it.)
Also, I had no difficulties in understanding Egyptians when they spoke English with a heavy Arabic accent, 'cause I was already used to it
Also, I know he likes to be in the spotlight, but 99% of the Egyptians like it too... I remember I had to wait for about 20 minutes to get closer to Tutankhamun's throne in the museum because it was surrounded by lots of tourists and in the middle of the group stood the guide, talking and talking and talking and enjoying the attention, and smiling when the tourists took photos, he was behaving as if he were Michael Jackson it was a great fun to watch him |

Yes, that's it, he really loves Egypt. Have you seen how happy he was when Ramesse I was returned to Egypt and he was there to meet him? And I guess most Arabians are like him, they're rather funny, I like them. _________________ <i>"Sorry, did I say something wrong? ........sigh.............If only the Egyptian empire had lasted longer and been bigger. Then there would be actual Egyptians there, not Arabs. _________________

I've always wondered... As far as race in concerned, who's to say that the Egyptians weren't arabic? I mean, looking at the way things are today and even at the ancient Egyptian art, they seemed to be a tan-skined, dark-haired race. But maybe it's just me... _________________ *Tadukhipa*

It's because they were all like in the middle east.
Arabs are Persian I think. _________________
