Hello everyone,
I am a newbie and have just come across this site, so I now hope I can meet like minded people with the same interest.
In 1986 I back packed the length of Egypt as this had always been a goal, I have also travelled the Sinai, Israel and recently returned from Jordon after visiting Petra. |

Welcome!
Although I've been to Egypt many times, it has always been a dream of mine to go to Petra.
I am handicapped, and although I get around with a walker, I am unsure of my ability to get to Petra. How difficult is it, do you have any idea? Did you see many handicapped people there? |

It is some time since I went to Petra. I beleive there is a wheeled vehicle which now takes you into Petra and it is the facades of the tombs which is the main interest. There are some parts where access is difficult but I can not remember what percentage.
Most guidebooks have something on disabled facilities. |

| That surprises me, tnrees! I thought that the canyon one had to walk through to get to Petra was hardly wide enough to walk through. If any type of vehicle gets through, it would make my access possible... |

| You can certainly get most of the way in a vehicle - as I said I was there a long time ago - I was able to ride from the theatre. |
