|

Wondered if anyone can help - would Pharoahs have ever taken uneductated townswomen - peasants, i suppose - as concubines? If he had an eye for such a girl, would she have felt too honoured to refuse (if she were single, i know peasant Ancient Egyptians were fairly monongamous) - or could she have safely rejected his advances??
any help/links appreciated, i'm having trouble finding out much about concubines, except that some Pharoahs (eg Ramses III i think) had a lot of them.
Cheers.

| Hi Casey. I don't think the pharaohs took peasants as concubines but there may be someone more knowledgeable than I here. |

Thanks, Amun-Ra. Hmm, that's what i was thinking - information is just so scarce on this subject. I suspect you are right, egyptian royalty would have had their pick of the women, so concubines would have probably at least have been noble women...
Cheers. |

No they would have not taken towns women as lovers.
They believed to be Gods didn't they so I highly doubt it!

| I doubt they even really saw townsfolk too much. And they would consider themselves above townsfolk. Though I suppose it would not be totally impossible. If there were peasant concubines they were few and far between I bet. |
