Well if you multiply the height of the Great Pyramid by 68 and then divide it by the square root 17 and then times it by 15 to the power of 1898, then you get somewhat near the height of one of some asteroid somewhere. Coincidence? I think not.... _________________ *Tadukhipa*

I think it rather should be in the Pyramids topic, not in the Queens of Egypt.
The pyramids were NOT built by slaves. They were built by free Egyptians during the seasons when there was no work on the fields. Working at the building site was a kind of tax they had to pay for the pharaoh. The theory that great masses of people were forced to work there, is absolutely wrong. As dr. Zahi Hawass said, the pyramids had to be built with love.
Egyptians didn't have lots of slaves and these slaves weren't treated badly (there was such mobility between the free class and the slave class, that a slave, after freed, could even marry into his master's family!) |

Did you guy's know that the Pyramids at Giza line up with the constellation of Orion's belt in the heaven's above?
Also it is correct that the pyramids were built out of love for Egypt and it's God's. Also it was a rock quarry for those that needed punishment; at least during some Pharaohs rein. Not all people were tortured or put to death for every misdeed. |

Yeah, that stuff is pretty awesome...those Egyptians were extremely smart.
In relation to the fact about Orion's belt and the pyramids, I recently watched 'The Prince of Egypt' again, and noticed that on one night scene, you can clearly see the pyramids and orion's belt highlighted just above them...just thought that was kind of cool. _________________ |\| e F e r t i |< a u r E |

Yeah, now I'm gonna have to watch it again, too! I love it! They used so much detail, it's amazing! I got a book with a lot of stuff in it about where they got the ideas and things, it's really good. _________________ -Akhenaten- |

I didn't like Joseph as much though. I think it was the music (I loved the music from Prince of Egypt), but something about the Joseph movie bugged me. _________________ *Tadukhipa*

haha I agree. The Prince of Egypt was ten times better.
I'm glad that someone finally made a well-done animated movie on a story from the Bible. The Bible is filled with so many amazing stories that few people pay attention to. _________________ |\| e F e r t i |< a u r E |

| This is in reply to Bel who said that the giza pyramids line up with orions belt. Actually, they don't correlate that well at all. I think you will find that pictures showing an exact correlation were 'adjusted' by Graham Hancock or one of his croinies like Robert Bauval. I found a site somewhere, can't remember which, and independant astronomy site and i've also seen it in books, the correlation is quite a way off. The correlation is off by about 20degress as it goes through the middle pyramid and wayyyy off (So far off I don't know why so many people still think there is a correlation) when it goes through the third. |

| I believe Bel.I read some where that in ancient times the pyramids did line up with orions belt.but the movement of the earth and sky made it not line up exactly. You can't actualy believe that the stars are in the same place they where 4000 years ago.so I will back Bel up on this one |

In regards to aliens building the pyramids... Have any of you seen "Stargate"? It was really good, but it sorta has the pyramids being built by aliens --- Ra is supposed to be an alien, an evil one. Anyways, I just got the special edition DVD and one of the special featues was "Is there a real Stargate?" but it had a lot about whether all thses ancient cultures were influenced by aliens. I don't believe in any of that stuff, but it was interesting to see what they found, like different inscriptions that supposedly are referring to aliens visiting and things like that, and not only from Egypt either, but from all over the world. Kinda strange
I think it's interesting that cultures from Mexico also have pyramids, and the Woodland indians (USA Great Plains) had mounds that were pyramidical, like Cahokia Mounds in Illinois. Does anyone have any ideas as to why ancient cultures chose that shape for their really important building projects? All of them seemed to last a long time, for one thing. _________________ -Akhenaten- |
