| Does anyone know whether or not Hatshepsut suffered from a physical deformity? I remember once seeing a pinting of her on a wall in Luxor and she seemed to have severe curvature of the spine. However - this doesn't seem to be reflected in the statues of her. |

| To the best of my knowledge, she did not have any physical disability. In fact, she seems to have been a very lovely woman! |

Queen Hatshepsut sent a group of Egyptians to the ancient land of Punt. On a temple wall there was a carving of the Queen of Punt. She was very fat and had a curvature of the spine. Perhaps this is the carving you saw. _________________ Let's go out to Egypt 'cause it's in the plan, Sleep beside the pharaohs in the shifting sand. |

Most tv documentaries are 'dummed down' it seems for a broader market rather than an in-depth documentary that we would find more useful.
She had reigned for about 20 years so she probably died in her late forties. That was quite old then. They weren't all like Rameses and Pepi. |

I was thinking more along the lines of 'the History Channel' and 'UK TV History' on freeview:-) |

I knew that she suffered from a form of cancer and diabetics.

| After her mummy was identified and they found her to be quite heavy-set, many of my previous illusions about her were completely over-turned! Perhaps in her youth she had been attractive, but as an older woman, racked by cancer and obese, her good looks were gone. |

I agree with you, Osiris II.
As we can see from her busts and monuments, she had a cute face with lovely eyes and a small nose. However, her mummy shows us that she lost few of her teeth when she grew older. (I think she lost them because of the diabetics) Lacking of one tooth would have been very depressive for a noble woman! And of course, she seemed to have suffered from a form of cancer that made her look ugly when she was older.

Although the evidence is 100%, I can't believe that is her mummy!
I guess age and disease can really change a person, look at that stele picturing A III and Tiye. He is shows as a very fat, and obviously in the last stages of his life. But his statues always show a young, very attractive man. We must always remember that the statues and wall paintings were not so much realistic portraits, but concepts of how the person wanted to be remembered as looking. |

You might be right, but no matter what the reality is, i will always imagine Hatshepsut as a very cute woman. |

| By the way, what was the form of cancer she had suffered? |
