Last Saturday I went to an interesting dayschool at St Loyes in Exeter. The house used to belong to Captain Mangles.

WhenAbu simbel was opened they found bronze door sockets & traces of wood

There were quite a few european visitors to Egypt pre Napoleons expedition - I got the impression there were only 2 or 3

Pre deciferment of hieroglyphs people called all egyptian dieties Isis or Osiris as they were about the only gods refered to by classical authours.
