I say it's closer to 12,000 years ago then anything, that also corrosponds to the mayn doomsday prophecy.

I find it amazing enough to think of the Pyramids as 4500 years old, I find it too fantastical to date them 6500 years earlier than that. It just seems to distant, they were pretty advanced to do it when they did is that not amazing enough?

They werent even advanced enought to build the pyramids 4500 years ago, now THAT is amasing they could still do it.

I don't believe that the pyramids or sphinx were built by aliens or any other "out of this world" creature. It's the most retarded theory ever created. They were built by humans, the Egyptians. I also don't believe they're older than Khufu's reign.

Theres more then enough proof they were built before that time. They weren't even meant to be tombs!

For someone born in the last couple of decades you seem to speak with such definance over buildings which predate your birth by 4 millenia. Perhaps you were there at the laying of the first stone and thus you know the true purpose of the pyramid, or maybe you designed the pyramid yourself. If you are going to challenge the most accepted theory in the world then at least give us some evidence as to why you "know" they weren't tombs. Just dont tell me:

- They were granaries to store food for the Biblical 7 years famine.
- They were Alien launch pads.
- Atlanteans built them as memorials to their lost civilisation.

I find those rather too fantastical to even consider. So, indulge me, what exactly are the hundred or so Pyramids in Egypt?

HA, i dont think that that was what they were, i dont know what they were, i dont think it matters what they were,, YET, however,
i beleive The ancient egyptians were more advanced than first thought and could not have built the GP with technology that they are currently credited with , based on the size and precision of the pyramids also the workload

It makes me luagh when people think aliens built the Great Pyramid because thats the only pyramid they think the Aliens built! Not the smaller ones or the ones that collapsed!

We don't know what they are for certain. But we sure as hell know what they aren't, and they aren't tombs.
Me? I think theres a few possiblities, one is that they were just giant houses and condos for the highly advanced ancients, much like 40,000 years from now people will look upon our ruins and think "WTF IS THIS?" and will assume that they are tombs. Another possibility is that they are aliens just f-ing with our heads. And theres the one theory that they are ancient power plants..
But they certainly aren't tombs built in the year 2,000 BC.

I don't believe the power plant theory, thats what I had just read in a Discover magazine.
But IIRC, there was no actually hieroglyph in the Pyramids stating that they were tombs.

Theres just a good as a chance that they were houses as they were tombs. So I don't see why everyone swears theur life to them being tombs.

How could they be houses? Theres nothing in them that is at all related to an Egyptian house.
