On Saturday we had another very interesting talk. There were a couple of bits I would like to share with you.
The main axis of Deir el Medina is not Hatshepsuts temple. It is just the modern road that makes it look like it is.
In front of the temple are some mud brick structures - what is not mentioned are that there are the 2nd, 3rd & 4th largest tombs in Egypt. Our lecturer is working with the Italian team excavating the tomb of Harwa. There are some beautiful carvings - 35 mm high hieroglyph of a man with ears & beard etc. - unfortunatly owing to the nature of the rock many of them have fallen off the wall. |

ciao Threes,
I am glad you are interested in Harwa, because I am too. I've attended to Tiradritti's first presentation of his job, here in Turin, and I had the chance to see carefully the nice job they all did there. I also made a report for our italian site and made a (owful) translation into english for KTO, but as you can see now it's not there anymore...
If you'd like, we may share impressions about Harwa! |

I was very impressed by what I saw but I only know waht is on the web plus the few slides I saw.
Something to think about when you see a report in a newspaper -
When I was looking on the web for Harwa I noticed a complaint from 1 of the excavators about a journalist who produced a big splash about an unknown tomb they had found - it is just a well known tomb that has broken in to Harwa's. |
