On last nights UK Antiques Roadshow they said the artist Richard Dadd (1819-1897) believed he was possesed by the god Osiris. In 1843 he murdered his father & spent the rest of his life in asylums for the criminaly insane.
I know he went to Palestine but as far as I know he never went to Egypt.
The painting on the roadshow was valued at £100,000 in 1986 (I think).
