I will post the answer later.
Edited by DM28: Tnrees, feel free to re-edit this as you like it. It should be okay now. I realized the board was configured to only allow a max of 0 poll options. Now there's 5. Sorry it took so long! |

The answer it not 'who' was Ineb-hedj but rather 'what' was Ineb-hedj.
Ineb-hedj was the Egyptian name for the city, and Old Kingdom capital, Memphis (later names so by the Greeks). It literally translates to 'white walls'. _________________

Quite a few people looked but it seems no one voted. Are you too modest to say you know, too ashamed to say you do not know or too idle to click on the button?
Also is it worth my doing another question like this? |

The option to vote was not available. Please do another question, though. |

That's a good point, I hadn't even noticed that. _________________ -Indeed, I am alive today; tomorrow is in god's hands-

| It was mostly a way of making a trivia question slightly different but I am also interested in the level of knowlege of kingtut users. |

Ok...I see your reason for polling, but polling results like this generally aren't an accurate gauge of knowledge.
For instance, someone like Osiris II (hope you dont mind me using you as an example) who has a somewhat broad knowledge of AE may not know the answer to a question. Yet, someone else who may have a very limited knowledge who might have just read some info on something might know the answer to the same question. Is that to say that the later has a higher level of knowledge than our friend Osiris II? Or that if no one knows the answer , that the group as a whole has a lower level when there may be members that have a very extensive knowledge on AE??
Just some thoughts. _________________

Not at all: I feel flattered!
Trivia questions and answers are not a measure of intelligence, but only an example of one's ability to be a storehouse of bits of knowledge. A perfect example is the show based on giving a question as the correct answer to various statements. (I can't remember the name of the show!) It shows three people who have an ability to retain vast knowledge on a multitude of subjects, but none of them seem to focus on any one particular area. That is not to say they are lacking in any way--in fact, I envy that ability! But it does go to prove my point. That knowing a bunch of facts is not necessarily a measure of intelligence. Just fun! |

If that is the reason that you're asking the questions, then I'm not sure I'd want to answer any question. It kind of makes me feel like I'm being judged. _________________ -Indeed, I am alive today; tomorrow is in god's hands-

| I was hoping for a large number of votes then I would have asked a few more polls which would have given me an idea of our level of knowlege. I agree that the reponse of 1 person to 1 one question does not tell you much (unless it was something as like 'I do not know' to 'who or what was tutankhamen' and even that answer could mean someone was careless or sarcastic rather than amazingly ignorant) |

Ok, well since we all agree that a poll might not be the best way to gauge the level of knowledge of the group let's at least continue on with the trivia question. That's the fun part!
Since you started this thread tnrees it is up to youI if you want to continue this as a trivia thread or a polling thread.
Oh, and you never confirmed my answer to the original question! _________________

Actually the Greek name Memphis derived from 'Mennefer' which was the name of Pepi I pyramid. _________________
