I have found other colleges and universities that have egyptology courses.

Brown University in Rhode Island has a department devoted to egyptology.

The American University in Cairo is also another school that has so much devoted to egyptology, which is good considering it is in egypt.

If anyone wants some more info on these two i have some-- but email me please cause i dont get on the board that much cause i dont have time.

For Canadian universities, the University of Toronto is the only one that offers Egyptology as far as I know. Personally I've got my eye on the program in "Classical and Near Eastern Archeology" at the University of Saskatchewan. (And if SASKATCHEWAN has an archeology program, I'm sure tons of other universities do as well.)

From everywhere I've looked, Australia probably has the best (non-Egyptian) Egyptology/archaeology courses, where you can actually major specifically in the course of Egyptology, rather than just take some classes. There are history, culture, engineering, and hieroglyph reading classes. Also, I believe there are some digs around the world (e.g. Rome, Liverpool, Abydos, etc.).

The downside, however... is the price. $16.5k for 1 year tuition starting 2005. 2006 will be $17.4k. It's only going to rise. This doesn't involve your airfare if you aren't currently in Australia, cost of visa, passport, food, board, etc. I'd approximate around $100k just to get your bac.

If you have the money, then go for it. Unfortunately, I don't, hehe.

It lists pretty much what is involved in becoming ann Egyptologist today , what courses should be taken, and what universities around the world offer such programs. Don't be discouraged!

....you can ask and try to find the way , or better a job, in oder to pay uni and all the expences...Italy is awonderful place and pisa too...more, here in Turin we have the second museum in the world!!!! Very Happy

It appears that the website that I linked to no longer has the page with the info about becoming an egytpologist. I will search around for a list of Universities for you.
