Hi all
I found this list and wondered just how exhaustive it is. I would like to try and start collecting images of these gods which have been "captured" from papyrus. Their representations have always fascinated me; but this list also raises a question.
Is Ra the same as Horus?

Please if anyone has more to add, please let me know.
Thanks |

Ra is the father of all gods, while horus is the son of Osiris and Isis.
Surely there will be someone here who can give you better answers...

Thanks for straightning that out
Coincidentally it seems, the figure Im looking for the most avidly is none other than "Maat", which I believe eats the hearts of those who are not able to enter the Afterlife because of "sins" (for lack of a better term) they have committed in this life. |

Maat is the goddess of justice and equilibrium, her symbol is the feather which is used to check the weight of the heart of the dead. If it weights more than the feather, it will be eaten by a terrible monster which is half a lion and half a crocodile, and his soul will definitely die. This is why in old egypian the dead is also called "just of voice" or "Justified", meaning that he has passed his exam in front of Osiris and Maat and that his heart is pure and clean of sins. Maat looks like a woman with the feather on her head. You should find her almost everywhere....
Hope that help...

Ammut is on the far right in this scene from the Papyrus of Ani.

Maatkara: many thanks to you! I have placed that book title on my list and it looks like it is currently available. I should mage to order it on saturday!
Neb-Ma'at-Re:
This looks a great shot of the Papyrus of Ani. I assume its a scanned image from a book you have in a collection? Do you have the title/author, or even better the ISBN number? I have a book that looks at translating the papyrus of Ani, but I'd like to see the papyrus itself (or rather, photographs of it).
Thanks! |

The site it self is soooo touchy at times!
Sorry about that, I guess you'll have to view it by typing it out a little at a time. It is a worth to look at, so don't give up trying to get through.
Good luck in finding. _________________ If Horus is the Sun,then I'm Pluto!
