In Victorian times there was a proposal that Britain should go metric. One arguement against was that the pyramidiots had decided the basic unit used in the pyramid was equal to the English inch so they said this shows the inch is a divinely approved unit so we should keep it.
I do not suppose it had much effect but every little helps.
