I don't know what it was exactly, but years ago I saw an excerpt of a program on The Learning Channel or something about Tut and Ankhesenamun (what would be an appropriate short form for that name?). Anyhow, in this program they talked about the love of the king and queen for each other and claimed that some of Tut's love poems were found. I have searched and searched and can't find any information about thiis now. Can anyone help me out?

| xman--I guess it's possible, but highly unlikely that any love poetry from Tut to Anky (like the shorter name?) could have been found. Certainly not in his tomb. There were no insriptions or papyrus found. I have several books of Egyptian Love Poetry, but do not recall any attributed to Tutankhamen. Anyone else heard of any? |

I know that some papyrus was found on his cofin I believe. Here's the text
"I am thy wife, O great one-- do not leave me!
Is it thy good pleasure, O my brother, that I should go far from thee?
How can it be that I go away alone?
I say: 'I accompany thee, O thou who didst like to converse with me,'
But thou remainest silent and speakest not!"
verdict - Ankhesenamun is NOT GUILTY _________________ Always remember, it's your right to have a SUPER day!

One of the big disappointments, according to Howard Carter, was that there were no papyrus found in Tutankhamen's tomb. The love poem you cited sounds like something made up by someone on a romantic episode...
There are lots of good examples of Egyptian poetry, just look in your local bookstore, or do a search on Google. Or go to this site to hear some read:

| Were you able to listen to the reading, Mary? I especially like the one from Kiya to Akhenaton. |

Thanks for your correction. If this is the case then it only serves to show how much mythology is out there regarding Tut, like the curse. _________________ Always remember, it's your right to have a SUPER day!
