| Check out "arguing with Hawass" in the News thread. We've been having quite a discussion of him there. People see him mny different ways, but the general consensus is that he is a very knowlegdable person, but his ego is really big! |

My opinion is that he has been recently very ... interesting. He abuses with his power. Look at what he did with Joann Fletcher!
He warned her off from Egypt! It's disgusting! _________________ ahlan |

ehh.... I get a kick out him! I love it when he's on a documentary and he busts the guys balls about the 'curse' and how the curse cannot affect him. Jolly good humor!
Seriously though, he has worked his way up to a position of high power. He is in charge of all antiquities of Ancient Egypt. Think of that responsibility! No matter what you do, there are going to be people that say they would handle things differently. Look, the guy has a genuine and heartfelt interest in preserving and restoring the remains of his great ancestors, and that which was once the beauty and splendor of Ancient Egypt. His desire to continuosly learn of the lives of these people is unrelenting.
Whether people say he plays it up for the camera, or allows filming for money, the guy's passion for what he does is like no one else's Iv'e seen. C'mon what's Zahi in his 60's? The guy still crawls around on his hands and knees in tombs. You have to admire that! _________________

She did it to herself! If you are going to make strong claims such as a positive ID of one the most famous queens of Ancient Egypt, you better have plenty of evidence, and be able to face the reprocussions if it doesn't pan out. She should stick to wigs! _________________

Well, Si-Amon, I would say that I agree with you but not compeletly because what you wrote is a little... extreme.
But I think you didn't write it severely or did you? _________________ ahlan

Si-amun!
Thanks the answer.
Now it's really better because what you first said was a little bit morbid.
And so I am sure that we are similar to each other. Because as you wrote I feel that you hate Hawass and I do the same, too.
At least I am not alone...(at this point). _________________ ahlan |

He is an absolutely awful man. I dont really want him shot, it is just a figure of speech. I find it sad to think that he got to the station he did on his own merits. I think his ascension was a lot more political than educational to be honest. _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

Am I the only one who likes him? I think he's funny. _________________ <i>"Sorry, did I say something wrong? Hi Neith!
I am very wondering that why do you like him and why is he funny? I don't think so. I don't think he is funny, rather what he is doing is absolutely that. What he is doing for popularity... Because my opinion is that it matters nothing in egyptology if an egyptologist is known by TV. Only that matters what somebody is doing FOR Egypt and not for popularity. _________________ ahlan |
