While I agree that the bust should be returned to Egypt, I find it is better to argue for the sake of argument.
Here, for example, not everything is always "by law". In this article found at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4458105.stm.. well, here's the quote..
| Quote: | | Italian troops seized the obelisk in 1937 and took it to Rome, where it has remained ever since, despite a 1947 UN agreement to return it to Ethiopia. |
It took 10 years for the UN to recognize the obelisk, and 58 years for Rome to do anything about it! _________________ "Does anyone ever truly think 'outside' of the box, or are they merely expanding the possibilities of what that box can hold to suit their own agenda?"

Yes and that is because Etiopia is not a superpower like the US or England
if it hade been reversed there hade been an invasion of Etiopia to make them follow UN Resolution.
But Italy finally did what Germany England and France would not do!
They followed UN and returned the obelisk. Yes it did take a longtime
but Germany England and France have done nothing!!!! since dawn of time
I salute Italy and are proude to be a fellow citizen with them
Germany England and France should be a shamed! _________________ Free the Queen klick the image

that obelisk was anyhow broken into several pieces and abandoned on the ground....It's true that we took it to Italy, but at least it has been restored. This is what happen also to all the other pieces in England, France and Germany...and we should also remind that too...
in other words, Claude, try to be softner! |

I am humble and grateful to all countries who have preserved and taken
care of those relics and I hope that Egypt and Dr. Hawass is the same!
And we should all be grateful for that, I agree with you abut this.
But the time has come to bring this relics back and thanks to the
preserving on them they can return where they belong.
Then we can put some question abut the preserving done in Berlin
and the Obelisk in France. But Italy and England have done a fine job
when they did take care of this objects _________________ Free the Queen klick the image

Yes, but only under extreme pressure from the U.N. - was the bust said to be returned through U.N. rule, or by Hawass'? If it were U.N. rule, it would be law. If it were the word of Hawass, it would be nothing but rambling!
..I ask because I don't know _________________ "Does anyone ever truly think 'outside' of the box, or are they merely expanding the possibilities of what that box can hold to suit their own agenda?"

Italy was planning to give the obelisk back since quite a while. Everybody here knows!...it was not because of "extreme pressure" of UN !!!! this is quite a foolishness!!....why should be Italy under extreme pressure of UN according to you??this is a nonsense. |

I'm just going off of what I heard from the BBC. I live in the U.S., yes - but on the Public Broadcast Channel, they have an airing of the past weeks events. Sorry for the mixup, but don't blame the messenger! _________________ "Does anyone ever truly think 'outside' of the box, or are they merely expanding the possibilities of what that box can hold to suit their own agenda?"

It was a agreement between Italy and Ethiopia negotiated by UN
The issue abut transport and the cost of transport was the only problem to be solved.
This is Info from UNESCO....
And yes it should not be Hawass law
But he are speaking with UN resolution in his back...
His language can be a little bitt direct so i understand the confusion
But he is the man in charge so you just have to get used to it and
read between the lines...... _________________ Free the Queen klick the image

Hey how abut this i found at the Museum of London
Dont remember who it was that claimed that Cairo Museum
did not show all their objects,
I also asked why people visited the museum? Now we got the answer
well read this abut Brittish Musem
and tell what you think of their own behavior
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dr. Neal Spencer, Assistant Keeper of the Department of Ancient Egypt
and the Sudan at the British Museum
“About 90% of all visitors to the British Museum come specifically to see
the Egyptian Section, and the Rosetta Stone in particular”, he confirmed
in an interview in his office at the museum. However, he admitted that
only 4% of the estimated 110,000 objects at the museum are on display.
The rest are stored and classified and only taken out for research, special
exhibitions or conservation work. These objects are only accessible by
appointment.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So now I now its abut money and nothing else
So what can we say You dont send that stone back and
lose 90% of the visitors when you have nothing else to replace it with _________________ Free the Queen klick the image

Well what is wrong with you people
Drop this, Shut up Lock topic Is that your answer
Maybe you should Bann me from this forum
When someone use arguments in a Debate and they are proven wrong
is there not the freedom of speech and civil rights to tell abut this.
If you have such low and I mean Low... self knowledge that you have
to lock a topic when your arguments are empty, when you now that
you have told a lie then its soooo low.
Why not make a comment on the fact that your Museum
is holding the Stone hostage be cause 90 % of your income
is in fact because you have the stone
And to tell us that you do such a great work showing those relics to the public
when you in fact are only showing 4%
Why not comment that???????????????????????????????????????
instead of telling people to shut up!!!! come down from your high horses
and be a real human. If you cant take this then you surely would
BANN me from this forum because I want shut up...
Now I stated my point and want continue this silly stupid argument with
you as long as you acting like spoiled children.... and grow up
