Hello,
I'm trying to learn to translate Hieroglyphics. Does anyone know where I can get some claer pictures of the backs of scarabs or shabtis? I have found a few, but most of them aren't clear enough to read very well.

You should get a copy of the "Book of the Dead", there is an "ok"
translation/transliteration by E.A.Budge which will be a big help in learning the glyphs.
Also Budge put out "An Egyptian Hieroglyphic Dictionary" in 2 volumes,
published by Dover publications.
I have found these two to be a great help!

You could also try Egyptian Grammar by Sir Alan Gardiner. _________________ weben Ra em achet |

Sounds good. I'll look for them at the library tomorrow.
Has anyone seen a photograph of the underside of the marriage scarab of Amunhotep III? There is a marriage scarab at the St. Louis Art Museum, but you can't see the bottom, and I would really like to translate that.
Thanks everyone, for their help.
