Well, I don't know where to get a family tree, but I do know what the relations were supposed to be between a few of the gods/godesses:
Osiris and Seth were brothers, Isis and Nephtys were their sisters. Osiris married Isis, and had Horus. Horus, in turn, had four sons, the four used on the canopic jars. I can't tell you their names, but one was a jackal, one a falcon, one a human, and one a baboon.
Sorry, that's the extent of my knowledge of family trees for the gods. _________________ -Akhenaten- |

Not quite but close! Actually it was Ra/Ra Atum/Atum Ra who gave birth to Shu and Tefnut, who gave birth to Geb and Nut, who gavee birth to Isis, Osiris, Seth and Nepthys. That was in Heliopolis. In Memphis you have Ptah and Sekhmet and their son Nefertum. In Thebes you have Amun, Mut and Khonsu.
All the major sites had their family triad, the problem was the egyptian religion was very much one of add ons and changes. for example, early on Hathor was considered the Daughter and 'eye' of Ra, but in later times she was considered the wife of Horus. She was also, like Isis, considered the mother of Pharaohs. It was all intermingled. You won't find one family tree with all of them connected. |

I drew a quick diagram to try and explain things a little better for the Heliopolis side of the myth:
(image should take 11.26 seconds to load on a 56k modem)
Dark_Meryetamun - Why is Nehthys your favourite goddess, she didn't seem to me to be very prolific? The basic points of her can be summed up in a few sentences:
She was only prominent in the Heliopolitan myths.
She remained faithful to her siblings Osiris and Isis at all times, even though she was married to Seth.
She helped Isis gather up the dismembered parts of Osiris (her part in this leading to her being one of the four guardians of the dead who were depicted in canoptic jars).
She allegedly went to Osiris in the night and Osiris mistook her for Isis so they made love and gave birth to, my favourite god, Anubis.
And that's about it really.

That's because she sums up my bad points. I always thought of myself as too talkative, unattractive, (though my cousin begs to differ) and quite out of control at times. I bet that the goddess of death wouldn't talk too much, I bet she was unattractive, but very smart, and very sly and in control of herself-most of the time. The goddess of death would wait out her enemies, cunning and ruthless. I have to say, I am very devious at times. My teacher once hit me over the head with a book, (light cover, very thin) and I gave her such a stare that she stepped back twice, startled, and finally said thgat she didn't hurt me. But, I waited, and when I came home, told my parents, and they complained and that teacher almost got fired. Most of my enemies don't even try me. Now that that's over, what were we talking about? _________________

| Ah yes Godess of Death. One of the myths about her is that she gave birth Anubis by Osiris. The myth I have seen associated with her more commonly is that she married Seth. But Seth was also given a number of foreign brides like Astarte (Canaanite) to make up for the fact that Horus eventually won out in the contendings of Horus and Seth. |

Q:Did Seth and Nephtys have any children?
No, Seth and Nephthys did not have any children. Anubis was the son of Nephthys and Osirus.
Q:A site that i was looking at said that atum coughed up shu and tefnut. can someone plz explain that?
This is known as the Helipolitan (Iunu) creation myth. This myth about the origin of Shu and Tefnut states that once upon a time the god Atum went to the city of Annu and he created Shu and Tefnut from his own body through masterbation. In the story of the creation, Atum is described as saying: "I had union with my hand, and I embraced my shadow in a love embrace; I poured seed into my own mouth and I sent forth from myself issue in the form of the gods Shu and Tefnut." Some versions claim he sneezed out Shu and spat out Tefnut. Later myths called this story into doubt and claimed that Atum's shadow acted the part of his wife; still others state that the goddess Iusaaset was Atum's wife. From Shu and Tefnut came Nut and Geb who produced Osirus, Isis, Nephthys, and Seth. These 9 God's are known as the Ennead.
"A few words of clarification for our Western minds. It may seem very rude and immoral the way Atum 'copulated with his hand', i.e. masturbated, but the ancient Egyptians seem to have had a rather down-to earth, practical view of the 'facts of life'. To them it was nothing shameful about the creator´s act, since he embraced the male as well as the femal principle, this was a practical way of explaining how one god could produce two more. As you can see, the quotation also gives an alternate way; he says he 'spat out' Shu and 'sneezed out Tefnut." http://www.geocities.com/nefertiabt/Iunu2.html
With that said, the title of 'God's Hand' was an alternative title for God's Wife, which refers to the hand with which Atum masterbated with to create Shu and Tefnut. The word hand is feminine in ancient Egypt and was easily personified as a goddess. So, it is thopught that the titles God's Wife and Go'd Hand had some sort of sexual connotations. Perhaps the meaning was to stimulate the creator God sexually (by ritual?) so that he would keep his fertiltiy and thereby cause the world to be recreated. While we don't know for sure what this titled entailed, we do know that sexual activities were forbidden in the temple or on temple grounds. _________________
