I am having the stakes made ready! _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

Well, that depends. I thibnk the Pharaoh was worshipped a bit more than the Goddess Herqet! So there, it depends exactly which goddess you are! _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

The exact power of the Pharaoh is still much debated amoungst Egyptologists. It is still unknown exactly what powers the Pharaoh was said to possess, and it seems more likely that he was the gateway between God and Man than an all-powerful deity. I have been led to believe that although the Pharaoh was certainly a demi-god, his powers were supplied through his ability to communicate with the Gods directly, rather than having any other divine powers himself. He was mortal after all (until becoming Osiris/ Sun Protector/ Being of Light). It all seems very confused.
Anyhow- you can hardly execute your kinsman or son (possibly- If I'm a prince) for wanting to succeed you can we now? I am almost next in line after all. Check out the top ten posters for details on competition! _________________

According to me, the power of a king was in his personal ability to administrate and also in his character, so to impose his decisions as well...if he was weak, then a stronger party, which could be the sacerdotal power, could take advantage of this, so then Gods could become more powerful than the king himself. I think noone could ever say that whatever god was more worshipped then Ramses II or Hatshepsut ( ) ...and if we try to analyse the Amarna period we can clearly detect the consequences of what the exaggeration of the imposition of the king, without being supported by a strong character, can produce....am I going too far? |

Right, Psusuennes is right (he said, knocking him off of the rights of succession) anyway, I am going to go back a few years just to be mean and go for the matriarchal theory of lineage. You better change your sex or marry your sister - its up to you!!!
Now, bring me some walnuts! I command you! _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |
