I'd like to hear what really happened in Tut's tomb. Does anyone know a good version, that is reliable? I have also started to read hierolgyphs, but am finding it hard to cope without a tutor. _________________ Helitheces! |

I hate to give an expose on Helitheces, but he doesn't learn hieroglyphs- He's just trying to copy my posts and prove me wrong.
Listen Mr. P. This must stop! You don't do hieroglyphs- you're just imitating me! Stop it! _________________

For gods sake I dont care if you two are only having a little joke and you are actually friends but you are both beginning to spoil coming on this site for me. If you want to joke about can you not involve me and a load of other people because:
a) we dont know what your joking about.
b) you are wasting my time as I read your rubbish.
If you wanna do it can you not do it somewhere less public? SOrry to moan but it really quite bores me when it gets to the stage that loads of people are forced to watch a private joke carry thorugh. _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

Osiris II~ that link didn't work and I would really be interested in reading Carter's diary, do you happen to have another link that contains the diary and/or do you know if it has been published in book form so that I could actually see it and read it (I know I can do both online, but you know what I mean).
Thanks
Found it.. wasn't hard with a quick search. Would still be interested if there are any books though. _________________ ~Mary

I've spoken to Helitheces and he is going to stop. He surrendered in a different thread and has started posting properly. He is actually interested in Egypt and does read lots of books on the subject.
Anyway- now that he's started this thread we could talk about it. Do you think that Carter really did steal from the tomb? _________________

My thoughts are that yes Carter did indeed steal from the tomb, probably not anything large, but something nonetheless (is that a word?). This isn't based on facts but on human nature. Who could find such a large cache of ancient goods and not be at least tempted to pocket a few of the items for themselves. If my memory is correct, he had ample time alone with the items to have obtained some for his private collection. I may be wrong, but those are my thoughts. _________________ ~Mary

I agree with you. Carter probably feared that he might not have recieved the reward that he deserved after the discovery. Infact he was paid a ludicrously small sum of money after the discovery. Whether this would have driven him to steal seems fairly obvious. Maybe we shall never know the truth. . . .
BTW nonetheless is a word, but it is very underused. I shall start using words like that. Ones that are very nice but largely unused. Like wherefore, whither, perchance, nevertheless and nonchalant . They are good words don't you agree- even if they do make you sound like a character from shakespeare! _________________

Maybe he stole something and thats what 'cursed' him causing him to die? I'm not sure either _________________ Helitheces! |

Carter lived for quite awhile after finding Tut's tomb, so he isn't part of the "Pharaoh's Curse" legend. _________________ ~Mary

I find all this curse stuff quite amusing. I don't believe it at all- although some would say that I will die for denying the mummies' curse.
I'm perfectly fine. . .cough. . .splutter. . .choke. . .*die*
lol. _________________
