In Britain the end-of-year exams have already happened. Our holidays have shot past and we have only just got back to school. I wish I had a holiday coming up! _________________

Tell me about it! I did get an A* in my Spanish exam though so I am happy! woo hoo. I hate the start of a new year, for about a month you are wading through treacle as you get used to it all. Oh well, come October I should have it sorted. _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

Want to hear true boredom? I am writing an essay on the faliures of Hitler's economic minister Schacht. Next I have to write an essay on the work Stanislavski with a comparison to Anotinin Artaud. Try that for boredom. It is 10.10 pm and I have to be up at 5.45. I have been out all weekend bridal shopping with my cousin, I am having an operation on my foot next saturday and thus my life sucks more! _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

There is a lecture at Bristol University on the Rediscovery of Ancient Egypt in November. Some top Egyptologists from all over the country are coming to Bristol to speak on Egyptian History and the Napoleonic discovery of Egypt particularly. I have bought a ticket for it- it should be very interesting.
It has been organised to fund the redecoration of the Egyptology Gallery at the Bristol Museum. John Ruffle, Dr Patricia Usick, Dr Aidan Dodson & Dr John Taylor are all going to be speaking there. I am looking forward to it, as it will be a nice break from normal school work. _________________

Da**it!!! >< I wanna meet Aidan Dodson. I read [part of] his book "The Hieroglyphs of Ancient Egypt".
I've never been to any special Egypt program except the Splendors of Egypt at the Portland Art Museum in April of '98 and the Egypt show at the Omnimax theater in May 2002. I think that's all that's been in Portland. _________________

I am soooooo excited! You could e-mail him- I mailed him and he replied within a few days.
It should be a good opportunity for anyone in the area to meet loads of Egyptologists, perhaps have a chat even. They're coming from London, Edinburgh and all over the place. Tickets are going relatively slowly though- there really doesn't seem to be a huge amount of interest.
If it is really good then I might consider joining the Bristol Egyptological society- if I'm not too young! They do trips to Egypt and all sorts. _________________

Can't you go on during lunch at your school library? Or possibly go to your city library and get onto a computer? _________________

I usually use the school P.C's (should that have and apostrophe?) at break and lunch. Buy a palmtop if you can't do that, or one of those really expensive internet phones. _________________

PCs, pcs, personal computers, computers, doesn't matter. An apostrophe shows possession. So no, you don't need it. Plus you don't need to use correct spelling or use correct grammar 'cuz nobody does. _________________

Gah!! School is evil. Because of school I've developed a grudge against the American Colonists, ever since outlining chapter 4 of The Enduring Vision...*shudder* it was 46 pages long and mostly about how farmers lived!!! _________________ "Pharaoh he was a powerful man, with the ancient world in the palm of his hands, for all intents and purposes he, was Egypt, with a capital E..." |
