| During the massive reconstruction work done on the Sphinx and just recently completed, an Egyptological team, led by Hawass and Mark Lehrner, very carefully explored the area surrounding and under the statue, even scanning the statue itself. A small opening at the base and leading into the Sphinx caused some excitement when it was first discovered, but proved to lead no-where, ending in an incomplete chamber. An old shoe and a newpaper's front page, dating from the '20's, showed that it had been entered before. With soundings, scans, excavations and explorations of the site, the team reached the conclusion that there is ABSOLUTELY NO "HIDDEN" CHAMBERS. Although it is possible that Hawass and Lehner lied, and there is a massive cover-up by the SCA, one question comes to mind immediately. Why would they? |

I really hate talking about this kind of stuff. Makes me all giddy and I want to leave now and go to Egypt and play. ^_^ _________________

I hate all these damned conspiracy theories. The list is endless. Why would anyone want to cover up a secret chamber? Any other conspiracy theories to do with ancient Egypt?
- Carter found the tomb of Tutankhamun earlier, robbed most of it and "discovered" it later for the fame and glory.
I find that one the most interesting. How could he have kept it secret for so long, being an Englishman in a foreign nation? He is also accused of building false walls and covering up his work as he entered from another entrance, ow sealed up. Hmmmmmmmm - believeable? I dont think so! _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

| Yes , but he may have the night or so before he offically opened the tomb have just broken in to look at what he had found. Do you not believe that? |

I believe that, but there is a slight difference between that and robbing most of the tomb over a period of years, building false walls to hide the entrance and lying to everyone he met. _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

That is exactly what I mean. Why do people fnd the need to see cover ups and scandals in everything? I think it is quite sad to try and taint those who should be applauded with suspicion. _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

Its impossible to be a hero nowadays, or even a role model. Carter could be considered a great role model for following his beliefs, and persevering, but now hes practically a criminal. _________________ Yea, Im gonna need you to come in on Sunday... |

It does make me angry. No one is free any more. In England we were struck by the death of Lady Diama Spencer, Princess of Wales a few years ago. The country mourned but still her ghost is being dragged up and all of her most depressed and private moments displayed for the whole world to see. You did it with Monroe. Why can we not let the dead sleep? Instead we take advantage of the situation and mar their corpses with intrigue and dependency. _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |
