When I was in Cairo I went to the mummy room in the museum and was amazed to look into the faces of people I had been studying. I have looked in all my books and I cant find many good pictures of the mummies of the Pharaohs. Has anyone got any links or websites they could add for me to visit so that I can see them in more depth. I would be really grateful as it always hammers it home to me that these people actually lived and moved once, something I sometimes forget. Only the kings though please, I dont want to trawl through 5000 pages of severed hands thanks! lol _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

Thanks, I found that really interesting. I would like a full body pic of the "elder lady", Amenhotep III and Tuthmosis III. _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

Here are some sites that have photos of Elder Lady.
ttp://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/amenhotep3t.htm Head and upper torso view of Elder Lady
http://users.bigpond.net.au/bstone/akhenaton.htm Side profile of Elder Lady
http://www.mummytombs.com/news/2003/6.egypt.nefertiti.htm Cursor down to bottom of page, click on Original Photograph of the Three Unidentified Mummies. There is another link at the bottom of the page that leads to the article by Dr. Susan James, where she provides reasons as to why Elder Lady is actually Nefertiti. This link is titled, "Will the Real Mummy of Nefertiti Please Stand up. I highly recommend this article.
i will see what i can find on Amenhotep III and Tuthmoses III. i do know that these 2 bodies suffered real damage. So it may not be real good what i do find, if anything. _________________

Wow, Sekhmet. You have come up with the goods yet again! Thankyou so much. Does anyone else feel a real connection when they see the face of these people. I have read and heard so much about them it is just amazing to look into their faces and think about what they did. I hope it isn't just me! _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |

Tuthmoses III
http://www.secker.fsbusiness.co.uk/tuthmosis3.htm His head only the body was just to destroyed, i guess they don't show it for that reason.
The mummy i got a real feel for was that of Ramesses I, when i visited him in Atlanta. So beautiful, he was and real. _________________

Brilliant. Thanks for those pics. I got a feel for Ramses II, just because he is sooooo famous. I also really felt when I saw the mummies of two children, in the Valley of the Nobles. I found it so sad, their plight sort of touched me over the millennia. _________________ Thou dost appear beautiful on the horizon of heaven, oh living Amun, he who was the first to live. |
