I was wondering if there is anything new on this queen? We see so much of her bust plastered everywhere yet she still remains an enigma.

What are anyone’s thoughts on her disappearance? I find it odd how such a queen who had so much power vanished without a trace. There must be some document or lead to her demise…I just wish they would find it!

One of the theories the history channel has made is that Nefertiti in order to hold the throne after Akhenaten's death took on a male persona Smenkare. Like Hatshepsut she dressed like pharoah. But if this theory is true then she also married her daughter! The plot thickens. And what happened to Smenkare he only ruled for a few years and disappeared. Confused

The jury is still out over definately what happened to Nefertiti. For a long time, popular thought was that she and Akhenaten had a falling out, and that she moved to the North Palace and helped to raise the young Tut.
Then belief shifted and claimed that she had died somewhat early in Akhtenaten's reign. But then a statue of her, showing her to have been a older woman (perhaps in her 40's) was found.
Now she is popular as a person who was re-named, ruling along with Akhenaten and after his death.

Some believe her mummy has been found alond with a young prince thought to be 'Tutmose', Akhenaten's older brother who died young. They did a blind facial reconstruction (They didn't know who the person was suspected to be) and it came out virtually identical to the Nefertiti we know and love. Joanne Fletcher was the egyptologist

Yeah there's a post around here somewhere where someone has attached the story regarding Joanne Fletcher being banned from egytpian sites since HAwass had the mummy DNA tested.

Yes, he band her from doing anymore work in Egypt. She stated that the younger woman in KV35 was Nefertiti. As of yet we don't know who she is other than she was King Tut's mother. She had digital xrays done on this woman, then had a bust contructed of her from the xrays, however the xrays went well and the facial muscle was put in. Then they hired a graphic designer to finish the face, not a forensic specialist trained to do this. The face looks nothing like Nefertiti, and then she had the Queens crown put on her head. You don't put a Queens crown on anyone. She also always hesitates when they ask her is it Nefertiti? She then replys yes. Now comes the worst part. She went on the Discovery Channel showing the reconstructed bust, and stated it was Nefertiti, without, as far as I know, telling Dr. Hawass any of this was going to happen. And you know when he gets angry, he is going to do something to someone about it. And now to Kiya. At first they figured that Tut's mother was Kiya. Then they realized that Akhentaten would have sex with a full sister to give birth to a roual son-Tut, not a secondary wife. So who she is could be any of Akhentaten's full sisters. I don't have the answer to any of this. I just read and listen. Dr. Hawass is head of antiquities in Egypt. As far as I know, he has to approve anything done or any digs you want to do in Egypt.
