I'm in love with Tut's tomb, and how Carter and his assitent died by a mosquitoe's disease after reading the curse! _________________ Tut was 50% king, 50% achiever! Im just 100% acheiver! |

When Tut's tomb was found, there was supposedly a curse that was found that doomed all those who "invaded" the tomb to a vioent or unpleasant death. Since that time, everyone remotely involved with the opening of the tomb (except Carter himself!) has died--usually just of old age or completely natual causes---and that death has been classified as a result of the "curse".
The curse did not exist, by the way--it was a complete fabrication of a reporter drumming up interest. But all sorts of mysertious and supernateralthings have happened because of the "curse". |

Nooooo....
LORD CARNARVAN died from the mosquito bite, Howard Carter was the only one to die peacefully in, I think, 1938. Somewhere around there. Tut LIKED Carter. The others were just...well...not worthy? _________________

The original "curse" was just a figment of a reporter's imagination
It was reported to have been found on papyrus--there was NO papyrus in the tomb, or fund carved on the lintel of the tomb--there was NO caving on the lintel.
As far as I know, the curse said nothing about dying from a misquito bite, in fact, it made no referrence to any insect, other than supposedly say "Death enters on swift wings...".
There were more than 3 excavators at work in the tomb. In fact, most of the known Egyptologists of the day were more or less involved.
The curse was carried to the extreme--even, as I recall, being at fault for the suicide of an elderly man in England who was upset at the death of his son--who happened to be in the crowd that cultered outside the tomb! A bit of a reach!
Although much has been printed and said exposing the so-called curse as a hoax, some 75 years later the guillable are still taken in by it. |
